Greetings friends. The other day I was meditating on art and how great it is. Well, I thought about art, as wide as it is, just as wide is the range of tools that are used for painting, sculpting and so on. Well, I came up with the idea of making keychains inspired by some of these tools, so I decided to start this series of charms with a paint palette, a very characteristic element of painters.
Join me in the creative process of this peculiar charm, the first of this collection.
Saludos amigos. El otro día estuve meditando en el arte y en lo grandiosa que es. Pues bien, pensé en que el arte, tan amplia como es, igual de amplia es la gama de herramientas que se usan para pintar, esculpir y demás. Pues bien, se me ocurrió la idea de hacer llaveros inspirados en algunas de estas herramientas, así que decidí comenzar esta serie de dijes con una paleta de pintura, un elemento muy característico de los pintores.
Acompáñenme en el proceso creativo de tan peculiar dije, el primero de esta colección.
Step by step
The materials I used for this keychain were as follows
- Flexible dough
- Wire
- Paint
- Glue
- Jewelry rings and chains.
To begin with, I started with a circle not too thick with flexible dough, which I continued to flatten gradually.
Paso a paso
Los materiales que utilicé para este llavero fueron los siguientes
- Masa flexible
- Alambre
- Pintura
- Pegamento
- Argollas de bisutería y cadenas.
Para empezar comencé con un circulo no muy grueso con masa flexible, el cual continué aplastando de manera gradual.
The idea was to make it thin enough to look like a board, but thick enough to be resistant and not split.
Then I made a shape similar to a bean, only a little thicker at one end. This is the most common shape for this type of paint paddle, as you can see in the image below.
La idea era que este quedara lo suficientemente delgado como para que pareciera una tabla, pero igual de gruesa para que fuese resistente y no se partiera.
Después le hice una forma parecida a un frijol, solo que un poco más gruesa en uno de los extremos. Esta es la forma más común de este tipo de paletas de pintura, tal como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo.
With the basic shape ready, I took a paintbrush and with the rounded tip of the brush I made some holes in the bode of the whole palette, but without piercing the shape, just making the cavities for something else.
Con la forma básica lista, tomé un pincel y con la punta redondeada del mismo hice unos agujeros en el bode de toda la paleta, pero sin perforar la forma, simplemente haciendo las cavidades para algo más.
Before gluing what would be the paint stains, I made a decorative brush which I would place in the middle of the paint palette. I also made it with flexible dough, which I glued with a little water and glue to give firmness to the piece.
Antes de pegar lo que serían las manchas de pintura, hice un pincel decorativo el cual colocaría en medio de la paleta de pintura. También lo hice con masa flexible, la cual pegué con un poco de agua y pegamento para darle firmeza a la pieza.

Well, after placing this brush and let it dry a little bit, I started to make the little spheres that simulate the paint that will be on the paint palette.
As you can see, each sphere has a different color, since I used different colors of paint to mix with these small parts of flexible dough to make colored flexible dough so I wouldn't have to paint it later.
Bien, después de colocar este pincel y que secara un poco, comencé a hacer las esferas pequeñitas que simulan la pintura que estará en la paleta de pintura.
Como pueden ver, cada esfera tiene un color distinto, ya que usé distintos colores de pintura para mezclar con estas pequeñas partes de masa flexible para hacer masa flexible de color y así no tener que pintarla posteriormente.
What I did have to paint was the palette, that is, the rest of the body of the piece. I used yellow as this is a nicer color and it contrasts with the rest of the colors.
For the brush I used red, silver and brown to paint the brush.
Lo que sí tuve que pintar fue la paleta, es decir, el resto del cuerpo de la pieza. Usé el color amarillo pues este es un color más agradable y que hace contraste con el resto de los colores.
Para el pincel usé el color rojo, el plata y el marrón para la pinta del pincel.
I also made these small pieces that you can see in the images below, which will serve as links for the chain of the keychain, they are like paint stains, I chose the colors green, red and blue.
También hice estas pequeñas piezas que pueden ver en las imágenes de abajo, que servirán como eslabones de la cadena del llavero, son como manchas de pintura, elegí el color verde, rojo y azul.

After all the pieces dried it was simply a matter of putting them all together and the keychain was finished. Below you can see a series of pictures of the final result:
