Greetings friends. Last week I shared with you a Super Star figurine from the Mario video game. Well, today I wanted to share with you a modern version of the Super Mushroom, that iconic item that makes Mario go from a small size to a big size.
It was a keychain shared between two pieces, the Super Star and the Super Mushroom, so I left them together in the same ring of the keychain. Join me in the creative process of this cute piece.

Saludos amigos. La semana pasada compartí con ustedes una figurita de Super Star del videojuego Mario. Pues bien, hoy quise compartir con ustedes una versión moderna del Super Mushroom, ese item tan icónico que hace que Mario pase de un pequeño tamaño a un gran tamaño.
Era un llavero compartido entre dos piezas, la de Super Star y la de Super Mushroom, así que los dejé juntos en la misma argolla del llavero. Acompáñenme en el proceso creativo de esta linda pieza.
Step by step
The materials I used for this keychain were the following:
- Paint
- Flexible dough / Cold Ceramic
- Glue
- Binder wire
- Key ring rings
Well, the first thing I did was to color the flexible dough with paint, it colors quickly with the colors you mix, so I took three small pieces of the original white flexible dough and mixed it several times with red paint until I got a deep red.
Then, another small piece of white flexible dough but this time with just a dot of white paint to achieve a slightly pink color, which I mixed with another dot of yellow paint, so I got the light skin color I wanted.

Los materiales que utilicé para este llavero fueron los siguientes:
- Pintura
- Masa flexible / Cerámica Fría
- Pegamento
- Alambre de bisuería
- Argollas de llavero
Pues bien, lo primero que hice fue colorear la masa flexible con pintura, esta se tinta rápido con los colores que uno mezcla, así que tomé tres trocitos de la masa flexible original de color blanco y la mezcle varias veces con pintura roja hasta que logré un rojo intenso.
Luego, otro trocito de masa flexible blanco pero esta vez solo con un puntito de pintura blanca para que logre un color levemente rosado, el cual mezclé con otro puntito de pintura amarilla, así logré el color piel clara que deseaba.

Well, with the small piece of flexible dough / red colored Cold Ceramic I made this upper piece of the mushroom. As you can see it is a silver oval shape but a little flatter at the bottom.
Pues bien, con el trocito de masa flexible / Cerámica Fría de color rojo hice esta pieza superior de la seta o el hongo. Como pueden ver es una forma plata y ovalada pero un poco más chata en la parte inferior.
After I had the red piece ready, I made two little white circles that I had to place on top of the red piece to make those little white dots that this mushroom has.
I made two circles because one goes in the center, and then the second circle is cut in half and each one is glued to each side of the mushroom, on the sides.
Due to the softness that the flexible dough has by mixing it with so much paint you have to handle it carefully until it hardens slowly. Try to smooth the piece while it is still wet.
Luego de tener listo la pieza roja hice dos circulitos de color blanco que debía colocar encima de la pieza roja para hacer esos puntitos blanco que tiene este hongo.
Hice dos circulos porque uno va en el centro, ya luego el segundo círculo se corta a la mitad y cada una se pega a cada lado de la seta, en los laterales.
Debido a la suavidad que tiene la masa flexible por mezclarlo con tanta pintura hay que manejarla con cuidado hasta que se vaya endureciendo lentamente. Traten de alisar la pieza mientras aún está húmeda.
With the other light skin colored piece I made another circle much larger and thicker than for the mushroom spots. This circle I cut in half for the bottom of the mushroom. You can see the piece before gluing it.
Con la otra pieza de color piel clara hice otro círculo mucho más grande y grueso que para las manchas de la seta. Este círculo lo corté a la mitad para la parte inferior del hongo. Pueden ver la pieza antes de pegarla.
At this point I should tell you how I used the wire to hold the two pieces together. They are very thin pieces that without the wire will not be able to be held together. So I used the bijouterie wire to join the bottom piece, the top piece and make a little ring at the top to hang the keychain.
En este punto debo comentarle cómo usé el alambre para mantener unidas las dos piezas. Pues son piezas muy delgadas que sin el alambre no se podrán mantener unidas. Así que usé el alambre de bisutería para unir la pieza de abajo, la superior y hacerle una argollita en la parte superior para colgar el llavero.
The last thing I did was to place some lines of black flexible dough that although I could not do it with total perfection, I forgot to fix it and it dried like that, with certain imperfections but that gives a handmade touch that these pieces have.
Ya lo último que hice fue colocarle unas líneas de masa flexible negra que si bien no pude hacer con total perfección, olvidé arreglarlo y se secó así, con ciertas imperfecciones pero eso le da un toque artesanal que tienen estas piezas.
