Happy day. As you will see, today I bring you a new design. In the last few days I have been practicing with a new material for me, the trapillo. It is very pretty, but in my opinion, it is not so easy to work with because any poorly made stitch is noticeable from a distance. However, I decided to make an accessory with this material, and the experience was wonderful. I am fascinated with the result and I hope with all my heart that you like it too. Another favorable part of making accessories with rag is that we don't need to buy a ball of yarn, but with a piece of lycra or cotton fabric, we can work perfectly. Let's go to the process.

Feliz día. Como verán, hoy les traigo un nuevo diseño. En los últimos días he estado practicando con un nuevo material para mí, el trapillo. Es muy bonito, pero en mi opinión, no es tan sencillo para trabajar ya que cualquier punto mal elaborado se nota a distancia. Sin embargo, me animé a elaborar un accesorio con este material, y la experiencia fue maravillosa. Estoy fascinada con el resultado y espero de todo corazón que a ustedes también les guste. Otra parte favorable de hacer accesorios con trapillo, es que no necesitamos comprar un ovillo, sino que con un trozo de tela de licra o algodón licrado, podemos trabajar perfectamente. Vamos al proceso.

We cut a piece of rag that will fit our wrist and that has a piece left over to knot. We place a ring on a parrot's beak hook and a small chain of not many links. We pass the rag through the center of the ring and then through the third link of the chain. We make a couple of temporary knots.

Cortamos un trozo de trapillo que nos alcance para la muñeca y que sobre un pedazo para anudar. Colocamos una argolla en un gancho pico de loro y una pequeña cadena de no muchos eslabones. Pasamos el trapillo por el centro de la argolla y luego por el tercer eslabón de la cadena. Hacemos un par de nudos provisionales.

Pass the beads through a crochet thread and tie one end to the ring. We make a chain stitch and a bead. The next chain is made by passing the hook behind the rag and we make sure that the material is not twisted and our bracelet has a better finish. In this way we weave a chain stitch, a bead and a chain stitch, until we reach the end of the bracelet.

Pasamos las cuentas por un hilo crochet y amarramos un extremo a la argolla. Realizamos un punto de cadena y una cuenta. La siguiente cadena la realizamos pasando el gancho por detrás del trapillo y nos aseguramos de ir acomodando el material no quede torcido y nuestro brazalete tenga un mejor acabado. De esta manera vamos tejiendo un punto de cadena, una cuenta y un punto de cadena, hasta llegar al final de la pulsera.

When we reach the end, on one side, we weave three chain stitches and move to the opposite side of the bracelet and continue weaving using the same pattern we used on one side. When we have finished weaving and applying all the beads, we close with a slip stitch and with a wool needle, we pass the excess yarn through the center of the rag to make a clean and neat finish.

Al llegar al final, de un lado, tejemos tres puntos de cadena y pasamos al lado opuesto del brazalete y seguimos tejiendo usando el mismo patrón que usamos de un lado. Cuando hemos terminado de tejer y aplicar todas las cuentas, cerramos con un punto deslizado y con una aguja lanera, pasamos el sobrante de hilo por el centro del trapillo para hacer un remate limpio y prolijo.

I placed a bear pendant that I recovered from a bracelet that broke and a copper sunflower, these were left over from another project and there are a lot of them, so every time I have the opportunity, I add one of these little flowers to my design. As a last detail, I untied the two knots and made a single knot with both ends, I think it looks much better this way. I cut the excess asymmetrically to give personality to this bracelet.

Coloqué un colgante de osito que recuperé de una pulsera que se me rompió y un girasol de cobre, estás me sobraron de otro proyecto y son muchas, así que cada vez que se me presenta la ocasión, añado a mi diseño una de éstas florecitas. Cómo último detalle, desaté los dos nudos y realicé uno solo con ambos extremos, me parece que así se ve mucho mejor. Corté el sobrante de forma asimétrica para dar personalidad a este brazalete.

I really liked it and it exceeded my expectations, as I hadn't done anything like it before. I think I'm going to risk a little more with rag accessories, although I have to invest in brooches and others, because not all beads work for me due to the thickness of the material. A mí me gustó mucho y superó mis expectativas, ya que antes no había hecho algo parecido. Creo que voy a arriesgarme un poco más con accesorios de trapillo, aunque tengo que invertir en broches y demás, pues no todas las cuentas me sirven debido al grosor del material.
