Hello, today I come with something a little different, a restoration. And it is that yes, not everything is bought, sometimes it is important to give a second life to objects that we have for each and jewelry is no exception. Today I am going to show you how I restored these pendants that you see in the image and I did it using very cheap materials that you probably have at home.
Without a doubt, the first step is to place yourself in context. In my house we usually do a deep cleaning every year, that is, we check every corner of the house looking for things to throw away and thus start the year with a completely clean house. In cleaning this year, we have found many old things, key chains, wallets, broken bracelets... And it just so happens that all these objects usually have charms, some more sophisticated than others, although equally usable and that is what I am going to do. to do today, some I'm going to clean and others I'm going to put some kind of diamond or shiny paint, you'll see.
There were two that gave me a lot of work, the first was this. Some kind of star or dream catcher, honestly I don't know exactly what it is, but I liked it a lot and so did my mom, although she likes things to shine and be seen from afar, that's why I broke one of these diamond holders until manage to remove the main base. I am going to place this in the entire center of the pendant.
Personally, for these inventions I don't like to use glue or any type of putty, because I feel that no matter how well you do it, it will always end up falling off. So I took advantage of the fact that both the pendant and the diamond base assimilated tin and decided to weld it. This way it will take years to break.
I was delighted with the result, it had very cool rustic notes. Although, as I said at the beginning, my mom wanted it shiny, so I had to put a layer of gold enamel on it. And yes, I'm using nail polish, it works quite well and once it's dry we apply a couple of coats of hardening polish, believe me it will never fall off. Unless you put the charm to wash the dishes, that always ruins the polish 😂
While the paint was drying, I put on the following pendant and this one was for me, I didn't even want to wash it, all I did was place 3 small diamonds that were missing and that's it. I suppose that initially the diamonds were also pink, although I loved the contrast that the blue gives it. To glue them I used Cyanoacrylate, which is nothing more than a super fast drying glue, maybe you know it as Crazy Glue or La Gotita. This type of glue is perfect for these things, because unlike silicone, it is not elastic, so once it dries it takes a lot of force to remove it and it does not dissolve with water or even with acetone.
Lastly, we have a small hand of Fatima. In this one I took a bit of a risk, although I must admit that the idea worked. I tell you, I also placed a blue diamond in the center, since I did not have it. I guess at first I had a Turkish eye or something, and I thought the blue diamond worked perfectly, but then I realized I had other holes in my fingers and I thought if I could fill them in with paint they would look better, so I did that. , very carefully and using the tip of a toothpick I managed to do it. At first glance they look like tiny diamonds, it is only when you get very close that you can see that there is no relief and that it is just paint.
A few hands of transparent enamel later, that's how they were. The others did not need to do anything, just apply enamel to recover their shine and they were ready. Which one did you like the most? I am between the hand of Fatima and the one with pink diamonds. They have something that attracts me.
And now, I know that this was not a post that you would usually see around here, although I really liked doing it and I hope you liked reading it. Soon I will be back here, bringing more curious and interesting things to show you, thank you very much for reading me ☺️
