Hello, hivers!
For this post, I bring you another episode of Mini Lathe Amateur!
This is a project that I've been trying to figure out for a while now. I have about 20 fired cartridge cases for an antique rifle that I've been trying to figure out how to reload. These cartridges are for the 43 Spanish Rolling Block Rifle from the late 1800s. The cartridges were manufactured by Remington in the early 1900s, before world war 1, and loaded with black powder. The cases have an extra large Berdan primer, which is where my reloading problem starts.
Berdan primers are basically impossible to find in the U.S. right now. Because of that, I have no way to reload these old cases unless I modify them to use the standard Boxer primers. I was hoping that I could just use the 209 shotgun primers in these cases, but the original primer pocket diameter is too large to hold the shotgun primer properly. This means that I have to modify the cartridge to use a standard rifle primer.
This video shows the first step that I'm taking to modify these cases to be able to use a standard large rifle Boxer primer.
Thanks for watching this video! I hope you found it interesting!
