Hello everyone
It's a beautiful day out here and I hope you are all doing great, thank God it's Friday and I believe we are all preparing for the weekend, today I will be sharing with you how I creatively made this simple design of an envelope shape pouch for my friend.
Tomorrow being Saturday, I have decided to pay my friend a visit, when I call her to inform her that I will be coming to her house, she quickly ask me to something nice for her if possible, I should make her a small pouch she can use for her phone and some cash when going out, the surprising thing is that I have made some pouches for her recently and she's still asking for another, anyways, that won't be a problem since all I use to make the pouch are left over pieces of fabric that I would have disposed, so making this is a great pleasure for me and I will do more if she asked me to, she has also been a good friend that I can't say no to even when I'm busy, I would have to creat out time for her.
As a seamstress who is into craft making as well, I get my inspiration from different places even places you can hardly think of, surprisingly, I got this inspiration of this pouch from an envelope I saw where I went to purchase an item, looking around the store, I saw an envelope display for sale and immediately, I got inspired to make the shape for my friend who requested that I make a pouch for her when coming to her house, when I got home, I took the pieces of fabric I intend to use and started the making process.
Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process.
I cut out 15 x 8" from the fabric and a lining with interfacing ironed on the main fabric.
The fabric was folded and I measured 3" and connected it to the tip of the folded end and it was cut out.
I placed the lining on it and sew the bottom leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out and the lining was turned to the wrong side
From the bottom, I measured 10" upward and I folded the main fabric to the place I marked leaving the lining
I measured 3 x 8" from the pieces of fabric, it was folded and sewn on both sides.
The lining was then folded on the main fabric and I inserted the handle in it before it was taken to the sewing machine and i sew it from one end to the other.
The excess were trimmed off and it was turned inside out through the opening on the lining.
The opening was top stitched on and the flip cover as well.
It was looking nice already and I thought of adding something to make it beautiful so I folded a bias tape into two and sew it together, it was tied together and I used my glue to placed it on the flip cover
To secure the items in the pouch, I used my hand needle and thread to fix a pressing button to the tip of the cover and on the opposite side
This is the final and beautiful outcome, I'm sure my friend will be so glad to have this added to her collection of pouch when delivered to her tomorrow.
I have some cash and a phone in it just as she will use it and you can see how beautiful it looks
