Hello everyone
Greetings to you all my creative friends, lovers of diy, members of this great community @idyhub and hive, its another great day today and i wish you all positive results as we all engage in our various activities. Today, i will be sharing with you all the transformation i made to my friend's oversized skirt which has been abandoned for awhile now but with my sewing skills, i was able to work on it and bring it back from where it was abandoned to be among her wearable outfit.
My friend had this outfit made for her from the fabric that was bought by her husband for a wedding of a friend when she was pregnant, it was a family outfit for her, her husband and their two daughters, you all know how a woman can be when she's pregnant, sge became a plus size and the outfit was made for her with her current size, after she gave birth, she couldn't wear the outfit any more as she has become slimmer from her size then and she decided to abandoned it, but her husband and children still wear theirs. Until recently she asked if i could help her work on the outfit and make it to her size a d wearable which i agreed to.
First thing i did was to reap the seam off and separate the front from the back
I folded the front part in two and i marked out the full length, waist and hip circumference on it with seam allowance and it was cut out
The front was placed on the back pieces and it was used to trace out the same measurement with zipper allowance at the back
It was turned to the wrong side and i sew it round leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out and after sewing, it was turned inside out through the opening and the opening was top stitched on, the same process was repeated on the other pieces as well.
Finally, the front and back were sewn together with the side seam allowance and a new zipper was sewn to the zipper allowance at the back.
This is now sewn to her present size with some allowance.
My friend will definitely be glad to have her outfit back.
