Greetings to all lovers of handmade crafts! Today I would like to share a recycling project to give an old purse a second chance by painting details with acrylic paint and liquid embroidery. Join me to discover how I did it.

Saludos a todos los amantes de las artes manuales! Hoy me gustaría compartir un proyecto de reciclaje para darle una segunda oportunidad a una cartera vieja pintando detalles con pintura acrílica y bordado líquido. Acompáñenme a descubrir cómo lo hice.

Renovating a purse with acrylic paint

Materials

-Purse
-Black marker
-Brushes
-Acrylic paints of different colors
-Black liquid embroidery
-Waterproof sealant
-Alcohol
-Cotton

Renovando un monedero con pintura acrílica

Materiales

-Monedero
-Marcador de color negro
-Pinceles
-Pinturas acrílicas de diferentes colores
-Bordado líquido de color negro
-Sellador impermeable
-Alcohol
-Algodón

Procedure.

🌸The first thing we will do is to clean very well the entire surface of the purse. In my case the purse is made of synthetic leather so I applied alcohol with a cotton ball and let it dry. In case the purse is made of fabric, you can wash it and let it dry before painting it.

🌸We take the marker and we are going to trace what we want to paint. In this case we will make leaves and flowers.

Procedimiento

🌸Lo primero que haremos será limpiar muy bien toda la superficie del monedero. En mi caso el monedero es de cuero sintético por lo que apliqué alcohol con un algodón y dejé secar. En caso de que el monedero sea de tela, se puede lavar y dejar secar antes de pintarlo.

🌸Tomamos el marcador y vamos a trazar lo que queremos pintar. En este caso haremos hojas y flores.

🌸We take the acrylic paint and with white color we are going to give a base to paint our flowers and leaves.

🌸Tomamos la pintura acrílica y con color blanco vamos a dar una base para pintar nuestras flores y hojas.

We can apply 2 coats to make it completely white.

🌸We take an angled brush and 2 different shades of paint, one for each end. I took some pastel colors: pink and violet. To cover each leaf in violet on the outline and pink in the center.

Podemos aplicar 2 capas para que quede totalmente blanco.

🌸Tomamos un pincel angular y 2 tonos de pintura diferentes, uno para cada extremo. Yo tomé unos colores pasteles: rosa y violeta. Para cubrir cada hoja en violeta en el contorno y el rosa en el centro.

🌸We are going to pass the brush from the top of each leaf to the bottom.

🌸Vamos a pasar el pincel desde el extremo superior de cada hoja hasta la parte inferior.

If we do not have an angular brush we can paint both colors with a normal brush. Outside one color and in the center a lighter one.

🌸We take the liquid embroidery and we are going to trace all the edges and the lines of the flowers and leaves.

Si no tenemos un pincel angular podemos pintar de ambos colores con un pincel normal. Afuera un color y en el centro uno más claro.

🌸Tomamos el bordado líquido y vamos a trazar todos los bordes y las líneas de las flores y de las hojas.

🌸 On the flowers we must also fill in
each petal.

We should not touch the liquid embroidery until it is completely dry as we could damage the design. It needs approximately 3 hours to dry.

🌸En las flores también debemos rellenar
cada pétalo.

No debemos tocar el bordado líquido hasta que no esté totalmente seco ya que podríamos dañar el diseño. Necesita de aproximadamente 3 horas para secar.

🌸Once we have the design ready, we will apply a coat of sealer to protect the piece from humidity, especially from contact with hands.

If a second coat is necessary, we can apply it. We try to only cover the painted flowers and leaves.

🌸Una vez que tenemos el diseño ya listo, vamos a dar una capa con el sellador para proteger la pieza de la humedad, especialmente del contacto con las manos.

Si fuera necesario una segunda capa podemos dársela. Tratamos de solamente cubrir las flores y hojas pintadas.

And our DIY work is ready. This is a simple way to give a second chance to our accessories. We can personalize our old purses and revamp them so they can continue to have a useful life.

Best of all, we can make simple flower designs to show off in spring.

Y está listo nuestro trabajo DIY. Esta es una forma sencilla de darle una segunda oportunidad a nuestros accesorios. Podemos personalizar nuestros monederos viejos y renovarlos para que puedan seguir teniendo una vida útil.

Lo mejor de todo es que podemos hacer diseños de flores sencillas para lucir en primavera.
