Today I want to share a practical guide on how I work with moldable foam—the material I use to create my kawaii figures—and how I preserve them once they’re finished.

¿Qué es el foami moldeable?
Es un material muy versátil, suave y ligero, perfecto para modelar figuras detalladas. Es similar a la plastilina, pero al secar se vuelve firme sin perder del todo su flexibilidad. Además, es ideal para hacer llaveros, decoraciones, miniaturas y más.
It’s a very versatile, soft, and lightweight material, perfect for sculpting detailed figures. It’s similar to clay, but once it dries, it becomes firm without completely losing its flexibility.
Plus, it’s ideal for making keychains, decorations, miniatures, and more.
Técnicas para trabajar con foami moldeable
✨1. Amasa antes de modelar
Esto mejora la textura y evita que queden burbujas o grumos.
✨2. Trabaja por partes
Divide tu figura en formas simples y luego únelas: cabeza, cuerpo, extremidades, accesorios.
✨3. Usa crema si se peg
Una gotita de crema sin alcohol en los dedos ayuda si el material se siente pegajoso.
✨4. Une las partes frescas
Presiona con suavidad. Si ya están secas, usa un poco de pegamento blanco escolar.
✨5. Herramientas básicas
Estecas, palillos, moldes de silicón, pinceles y objetos del día a día te ayudarán a dar formas y texturas.
✨6. Pintura y detalles
Una vez seca la figura (12 a 24 h), puedes decorarla con pintura acrílica o marcadores permanentes.
✨7. Secado
Déjalas secar en un lugar ventilado, sin sol directo ni humedad, sobre plástico o cartón encerado.
Cómo conservo mis figuras
✨ Almacenamiento
Las guardo en cajas de plástico con tapa.
Uso separadores o papel para que no se toquen entre sí.
✨Protección del sol
Evito ponerlas cerca de ventanas o luz directa para que no se decoloren.
✨Limpieza
Las limpio con una brocha suave o pincel seco.
Nunca con agua, porque el foami puede absorber humedad.
✨ Sellado(ocional)
Actualmente no aplico barniz a mis figuras porque no dispongo de los materiales adecuados, pero sí lo recomiendo para quienes quieran dar un acabado más profesional. Un barniz en spray, brillante o mate, puede ayudar a proteger los colores y hacer que la figura dure más tiempo.
✨ Transporte
Si voy a llevarlas a otro lugar, uso cajas con esponja o algodón para evitar golpes.

Techniques for Working with Moldable Foam
✨1. Knead Before Shaping
This improves the texture and helps prevent bubbles or lumps.
✨2. Work in Sections
Break your figure into simple shapes and then join them: head, body, limbs, accessories.
✨3. Use Cream if It Sticks
A tiny drop of alcohol-free lotion on your fingers helps if the material feels sticky.
✨4. Join While Fresh
Press gently. If the parts are already dry, use a bit of white school glue.
✨5. Basic Tools
Modeling tools, toothpicks, silicone molds, brushes, and everyday objects help shape and add texture.
✨6. Painting and Details
Once the figure is dry (12 to 24 hours), you can decorate it with acrylic paint or permanent markers.
✨7. Drying
Let the figures dry in a ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and humidity, on plastic or waxed cardboard.
How I Preserve My Figures
✨ Storage
I keep them in plastic containers with lids.
I use dividers or paper so they don’t touch each other.
✨ Sun Protection
I avoid placing them near windows or direct light to prevent fading.
✨ Cleaning
I clean them with a soft brush or dry paintbrush.
Never with water, since the foam can absorb moisture.
✨ Sealing (Optional)
I don’t currently seal my figures because I don’t have the proper materials, but I do recommend it for those who want a more professional finish. A spray varnish, either matte or glossy, can help protect the colors and make the figure last longer.
✨ Transport
If I’m taking them somewhere, I use boxes with foam or cotton to avoid damage.
