Hello dear friends, I hope you are all well, here I am with my participation in the Four Elements of nature contest. I thought about many ways to participate where I could present something creative but at the same time serve as a means of expression, so painting was my best option. I have painted a Sakura tree, known in Japanese culture, a tree with great symbology which has been the product of thousands of years of care and selection. This tree represents understanding the earth, the seasons and the climate very well. Its flowers, which open in spring for a very short time, are seen by the Japanese as a symbol of the brevity of life. I remember a phrase from the movie The Last One. Samurai, where when the cherry trees bloomed, they talked about the samurai code that is summarized in "Life in a Breath" taking that idea is what I have made my painting and I share with you. I have been making most of the materials, such as the canvas, which I had to build and I made it with measurements of 70 centimeters high by 1.40 centimeters wide, using acrylic paint, I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, aquí estoy con mi participación en el concurso de los Cuatro Elementos de la naturaleza. Pensé muchas formas de participar donde pudiera presentar algo creativo pero a la vez que me sirviera como medio de expresión, por lo que la pintura fue mi mejor opción. He Pintado un árbol Sakura, conocido así en la cultura japonesa, un árbol con una gran simbología la cual sido producto de miles de años se cuidados y selección. Este árbol representa entender muy bien la tierra, las estaciones y el clima, sus flores, las cuales abren en primavera por muy poco tiempo es vista por los japoneses como un símbolo de la brevedad de la vida, recuerdo una frase de la película El Último Samurái, donde al florecer los cerezos, hablaban del código samurái que se resume en "La vida en un respiro" tomando esa idea es que he realizado mi pintura y comparto con ustedes. La mayor parte de los materiales los he ido haciendo, como por ejemplo el lienzo, el cual me tocó construirlo y lo hice con las medidas de 70 centímetros de alto por 1,40 centímetros de ancho, utilizando pintura acrílica, espero les guste.

I bought the fabric for the canvas and in a carpentry shop I had the frame made, with a stapler I was able to fix the fabric, while doing so I gave enough tension to the fabric so that it looked very good. In this one alone I saved $30 by buying a canvas at art stores, they are very expensive. After putting it together I proceeded to cure the fabric with a homemade paste mixture and then let it dry to start painting, I used the tripod that I made last year, which you witnessed when I made it, as you can see most of the work I try to find a way to do it myself.
Compré la tela para lienzo y en una carpintería mandé a hacer el marco, con una grapadora pude fijar la tela, mientras lo hacía le daba bastante tensión a la tela para que quedar muy bien. solo en este me ahorré $30 comprando un lienzo en las tiendas de artes, están muy costosos. Luego de armarlo procedí a curar la tela con una mezcla casera de pasta y luego deje secar para comenzar a pintar, utilicé el trípode que hice el año pasado, del cual ustedes fueron testigos cuando lo hice, como pueden ver la mayor parte del trabajo trato de buscar la manera de hacerlo por mi mismo.

I prepared my paints to which I added some new ones that I bought, especially the white color, the one I use the most in paintings since it is the base for mixing colors, apart from those I bought a set of brushes to make small details, things that I needed to paint the sakura flowers.
Preparé mis pinturas a las cuales agregué unas nuevas que compré, especialmente el color blanco, el que mas utilizo en cuadros ya que es la base para mezclar colores, a parte de eso compré un set de pinceles para hacer pequeños detalles, cosas que necesitaba para pintar las flores de Sakura.

I started painting the background, which is an abyss of clouds that fade into the horizon, I paint it with a mixture that results in a grayish blue. I use to paint this area a flat brush which is one of the best for making clouds, with With a soft brush I blend to make the clouds fade.
Comencé pintando el fondo, el cual es un abismo de nubes que se desvanecen en el horizonte, lo pinto con una mezcla que resulta en azul grisaceo, Utilizo para pintar esta zona un pincel plano el cual es uno de los mejores para hacer nubes, con un pincel suave voy difuminando par alograr que las nubes se vayan desvaneciendo.

In the next step after painting the background I began to paint the branches of the tree, which had many endings. I used brown and a mix of warm colors to provide contrast and make the branches look somewhat old. It took me a long time here since I took my time with great concentration, I wanted this whole part to look like a real tree.
En el siguiente paso luego de pintar el fondo comencé a pintar las ramas del árbol, el cual tenía muchas terminaciones. Utilicé color marrón y una mezcla de colores cálidos para dar constraste y hacer que las ramas parezcan algo viejas. Aquí tarde mucho ya que me tomé el tiempo con mucha concentración, quería que toda esta parte me quedara como un auténtico árbol.

Then I continued with the most arduous work which was to paint the cherry blossoms, I took the white color and mixed it with red and also magenta to achieve a tone that could represent the delicacy of this flower. Little by little I covered the branches with flowers from the left side where they are usually more colorful to the right side where they look a little lighter.
Después seguí con el mas arduo trabajo que fue pintar las flores de cerezo, tome el color blanco y lo mezclé con rojo y también magenta para lograr un tono que pudiera representar la delicadeza de esta flor. Poco a poco fui cubriendo las ramas con flores desde el lado izquierdo sonde suelen estar más coloridas hacia el lado derecho que se ven un poco más claras.

It wasn't easy at all, for 3 days I was working on the flowers and on the 4th day I only dedicated myself with a very fine brush to making the smallest details, I didn't want them to look flat, I wanted to achieve another kind of finish. After the 5th day I finished this painting.
No fue nada fácil, por 3 días estuve trabajando en las flores y el 4to día solo me dediqué con un pincel muy fino a hacer los detalles más pequeños, no quería que se vieran con una forma plana, quería lograr otra clase de acabado. Luego del 5to día di por finalizada esta pintura.
This is how it was finished, very special thanks to my little daughter, who was with me throughout the entire process and did not tire of encouraging me for even a minute, she is my little companion. The painting is completely ready, it only needs a layer of shiny varnish that I have not yet been able to acquire and of course a very nice frame, I already ordered it from a carpentry shop and I hope they will have it ready very soon. Así fue como quedó finalizado, agradecimientos muy especiales a mi pequeña hija, quien estuvo acompañándome durante todo el proceso y no se cansó de alentarme ni por un minuto, es mi pequeña compañera. El cuadro esta totalmente listo, solo le falta una capa de barniz brillantes que aún no he podido adquirir y por supuesto un marco que sea muy bonito, ya lo encargué en una carpintería y espero que lo tengan listo muy pronto.
