Christmas is the season of love, a season of happiness and sharing, it's a time of the year when I reconnect with people and spend quality time with my family. It is the time of the year when I create beautiful memories and I am always looking forward to it. Christmas comes with so much goodness and it has its way of putting a smile on people's faces.
There are lots of Christmas-inspired activities happening on Hive and the Hive DIY community contest for December is one of them.

As a kid, one of the things I was always looking forward to happened to be Santa Claus. I read many stories about them and wished one could visit me someday, there were times I made silent wishes hoping Santa would grant them overnight but it didn't happen and I didn't stop believing in its existence until a certain age.
Despite not encountering the authentic Santa, I was opportune to meet the regular Santa at Christmas parties. Although they couldn't grant my wishes but they definitely gave me a gift and made me smile.
After thinking about the prompt I decided to make a Santa as an entry and probably breathe life into it. I know there are lots of kids who still believe in Santa and hopefully, my Santa can put my smile on the faces of many kids
To make Santa, I got a few materials.
Red fabric

White fabric
Green cardboard
Brown gum
Scissors
Carton
It was my first time doing something of such but I enjoyed the time spent because it was an opportunity for me to relive some childhood memories.
I started by cutting out two circle shapes of different sizes on a carton that will be used as the body and head of Santa.

I intended to use the fabric as the colours on the carton so I applied brown gum on the carton I cut out earlier and gummed the fabrics on each of the circles.

After applying the gum and putting the fabrics on the carton, I put them aside for a few minutes for the gum to dry completely.

While I left them to dry, I made my Santa hat by cutting out a triangle with the cardboard and gummed a piece of the red fabric to the cut-out.

I gummed a small white circle to the edge of Santa's hat and also a rectangle to the part that would serve as the bottom part of the hat. After that, I trimmed the hat and it was really cool

The gum had dry by the time I was done with the hat so I cut the red and white fabric with the exact size of the carton.

I went on to design the body and the face of Santa.
I started by giving Santa a belt and hand covered in black gloves.

I didn't want to put Santa's eye directly on it so cut out a smaller circle on the green card and gummed it to the white circle that was meant for Santa's head.

I cut out Santa's eyes and gummed them to the green cardboard that served as Santa's face.

Santa wouldn't look like one without his moustache so I cut out the moustache from a piece of cardboard as well.

Finally, I joined the body and head together with the brown gum as well. I made a support with two pieces of carton for Santa so that it can stand on its own.

Isn't the result fantastic?
