Hi creative friends and fashion lovers! How are you all doing? Hope you're all good. I'm happy to share my second post in the @diyhub community.
We had a hangout last week Sunday and I was thinking of what to wear, nothing was coming into my head. When i remembered the fabric my mom gave me during my grandma's funeral. I decided to use it to create a beautiful outfit. After bringing out the fabric from my bag, I asked my sister whether she has her own material to sew but she said no. I had to bring out one of my fabric, i bought from my teacher.
But what am posting today is not about the fabric i use in sewing, it's something else I wanted to use in styling with the outfit I made. Today, I'm sharing my handmade fascinator I created with carton. Do you know you can learn how to make fascinator or anything without breaking a bank. I've never try this handmade fascinator before, but I decided to give it a try. When I went to the market, I saw all kinds of fascinator that are Mesmerizing. I remember pricing one of this facinator in the market, and it was too expensive that I told the woman I'll come back later. Omo I went home and decided to try making it by myself. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 😂😂
When I was sketching, I saw that the design I'm working on go well with the fascinator. I imagine how it will pair perfectly.
I went on YouTube to see how they're making a handmade fascinator and I got some ideas from there. Luckily, my neighbor runs a shop, so I went to her shop and asked her for an empty carton she no longer needed. She gave me an indomie carton and I went home to make my handmade craft. Let's get crafting!
MATERIAL USED :
- Carton
- Candle gum
- Crepe and Ankara fabric
- Water Bead and crystal Bead
- Scissors, tape, and handneedle.
HOW I ACHIEVE THIS HANDMADE FASCINATOR
- Firstly, I place the carton on the floor, I'm making use of a flat plate, which I used to trace a circle shape onto the carton.
- After using the plate to trace out the line, I went ahead to cut it out with my scissors. This is the outcome.
- I place the carton on my fabric (crepe) and proceed in cutting out the fabric, I left about an inch of space for closing up the edges.
- Sorry I didn't capture some part, but I will break it down here. When I was done cutting the fabric, I used my candle gum (Note: you can use any gum of your choice) I apply the candle gum at the edges and fold it to relax.
- I'm making use of water Bead and crystal Bead to give it a stunning appearance . I proceeded to sew around it but my sister told me to add more, so I drew a spiral line in the center and beaded along the lines.
*AND GUYS THIS IS MY FINAL LOOK
We styled it with the outfit I made. The outfit has this African - inspired print design. I was in love with this exquisite looks. I paired mine with green shoes and green bag while my sister paired hers with black bag and black shoes. it looks chic and dazzling.
