Today I share with you my entry for this month's contest, which is about creating some work inspired by one of the 4 elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
This theme leads me to think about something abstract and the colors that identify each element, I also relate it to the zodiac signs. That's why my inspiration comes from the fire element and the earth element, which are the elements that identify my husband's sign (earth element) and my sign (fire element).
I am going to paint two pots in the colors that are associated with the elements I chose, the earth element will be represented with some cool colors in the shade of green and the fire element will be represented by warm colors in shades of orange.
These are all the materials needed:
- Pots.
- Paints of various colors.
- Gold paint.
- Brushes.
- Sponge.
- Straw.
- Water-based gloss or transparent enamel.
Step 1
I will use the sponge to paint the pots with the white color, so it is faster than with brush.
Then I prepare 4 shades of green and with a very fine brush I trace what will be spots in the different shades of green.
Step 2
Now I really start the paint job and fill each shape with its corresponding color. For me the earth element is associated with a living ecosystem and leads me to think of these colors and organic shapes.
I also make dots with brown and the green colors I had prepared. When finished I let it dry and then give it a coat of gloss.
Step 3
For the second pot the colors should be more liquid, my idea is to turn the pot upside down and let the paint fall all over the pot like drops from a volcano 😁 I cover my work place with a plastic bag and there I turn the pot upside down, this experiment starts with the lightest orange, I blow with the help of a straw to make the paint run faster and repeat the experiment.

Finally, I drop a few drops of gold color and place it on a soda can to dry, so the paint from the pot doesn't stick to the bag.
After letting the pots dry it's time to give them a coat of gloss so the paint will last a long time. It will last long though, as I'm going to transplant some cacti and a succulent there 😁 so water won't be a problem.
What's interesting is that these pots are literally crafted from the elements they represent.
Earth: Clay for their creation from the hands of man.
Fire: For the baking of the clay pieces.
And well, that's how they look like, I really liked it because now my plants have a more beautiful and symbolic place to grow ✨🌱.

P.S.: Did you know that the technique of blowing the paint with a straw is a simpler form of Soufflage? Technique invented within the Surrealist movement by the painter Jimmy Ernst.

Hoy les comparto mi participación para el concurso de este mes, el cual trata sobre crear algún trabajo inspirado en alguno de los 4 elementos: Tierra, aire, fuego y agua.
Este tema me lleva a pensar en algo abstracto y en los colores que identifican cada elemento, también lo relaciono con los signos zodiacales. Por eso mi inspiración viene del elemento fuego y del elemento tierra, que a la vez son los elementos que identifican el signo de mi esposo (elemento tierra) y mi signo (elemento fuego).
Voy a pintar dos macetas en los colores que se asocian a los elementos que escogí, el elemento tierra estará representado con algunos colores fríos en la tonalidad verde y el elemento fuego será representado por colores cálidos en tonalidades naranja.
Estos son todos los materiales necesarios:
- Materos.
- Pinturas de varios colores.
- Pintura dorada.
- Pinceles.
- Esponja.
- Pitillo.
- Brillo al agua o esmalte transparente.
Paso 1
Usaré la esponja para pintar los materos con el color blanco, así es más rápido que con pincel.
Luego preparo 4 tonos de verde y con un pincel muy fino trazo lo que serán manchas en los diferentes tonos de verde.
Paso 2
Ahora sí comienzo el trabajo de pintura y relleno cada forma con su color correspondiente. Para mí el elemento tierra está asociado con un ecosistema vivo y me lleva a pensar en estos colores y formas orgánicas.
También hago puntos con color marrón y los colores verdes que había preparado. Al terminar la dejo secar para después dar una capa de brillo.
Paso 3
Para el segundo matero los colores deben ser más líquidos, mi idea es voltear el matero y dejar que la pintura caiga por todo el matero como gotas de un volcán 😁
Cubro mi lugar de trabajo con una bolsa plástica y allí volteo el matero, este experimento comienza con el naranja más claro, soplo con ayuda del pitillo para que las gotas se corran más rápido y repito el proceso con los otros colores.
Por último, le dejo caer unas gotas de color dorado y lo coloco sobre un envase de refresco para que se seque, así no queda la pintura del matero pegada en la bolsa.
Después de dejar secar los materos es el momento de dar una capa de brillo para que la pintura dure mucho tiempo. Aunque durará mucho, ya que allí voy a trasplantar unos cactus y una suculenta 😁 así que el agua no será un problema.
Lo interesante es que estas macetas literalmente están elaboradas de los elementos que representan.
Tierra: La arcilla para su creación a partir de las manos del hombre.
Fuego: Para el horneado de las piezas de arcilla.
Y bueno, así es como se ven, a mí me gustó mucho porque ahora mis maticas tienen un lugar más bonito y simbólico donde crecer ✨🌱
