Hello Felines and Hoomans of the Hive!
Exciting times we're having, aren't they?
Our new Hive home is still all shiny and new, and already lots of things are happening around here. Makes me feel a lot more positive and enthusiastic, and like getting back to some of my initial ambitions for the Curator Cat blog.
You see, this cat blog came into being as a small "shot in the dark" to try to bring some "general interest content" to Steem/Steemit, back in the day.
I remember a lot of talk about how we best go about bringing cryptocurrencies to the masses... and with that, crypto-based social platforms.
My first thought was that you have to start with easily accessible non-technical content the greater world can relate to. You're not going to be able to "sell" the idea of technical analysis of Bitcoin to the average social web user.
Are you paying attention?
You have to meet them where they are, with a "softer" kind of content.
Like photos and videos of cats — considered by many to be the "unofficial mascot animal" of the Interwebz. At least, that was the very general idea... to bring a counterpoint to all the technical stuff.
But — by itself — that seemed a bit too fluffy and frivolous.
The Hoomans and I felt that the blog should also have some "meat on its bones" and serve as a teaching and community tool, of sorts. Not just a repository of content, but content that helps people get empowered and take action, on their own.
Computer Cat!
The Mixed Format blog was born...
Unfortunately, we lost a good bit of our motivation because Steem pretty much failed to deliver and became rather frustrating... in spite of which we still created almost 300 top level posts! But now we have Hive, and I'm excited about resuming what was allowed to fizzle out!
So, in the weeks and months ahead, expect a mixture of just cute cat photos, and Curator Cat's wisdom on the topic (and importance!) of community building and marketing to the greater world!
Because it matters! And it's how we're going to make Hive... thrive.
Now I'm wondering whether #promohive and #thriveonhive are tags already in use. I'm pretty sure #hivesocial is. If they are not, they should be. Both here, and on twitter.
Time to get to work, folks! And in between? It's almost CATURDAY!
Thanks for reading!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
Listed below are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
Last but certainly not least, don't forget the dPet Community created by @kona, which is the original pet related "channel," and which typically also has lots of cat photos! This is also the home of the Daily Pet Photography challenge!
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
