The ego fears the disappearance of its identifications. It clings to its narrative. The narrative produces symptoms in the body and in the field of manifestation that support the repetition of the jouissance of lower death drive—the drive to remain mortal and to suffer from the absence of divine love, sovereignty, freedom, joy, wisdom, and invincible spiritual power. Yet, the way out is so easy, so simple, so effortless, so immediate. When the moment of awakening comes, agony morphs into ecstasy, and all is recognized as perfect.
