Welcome to this lush smoothie my friends.

My grandson's mom gave me two sweet potatoes and I don't know why I thought of making a smoothie; I wondered what it would be like. Would it taste good? I always ate sweet potato as a vegetable in a beef tripe soup or beans with pork.

Well, I parboiled the two pieces but only used the smaller one because I didn't know how the drink would turn out. I went through the dilemma of whether to add milk or not and decided to use oatmeal.

Sweet potato with oatmeal

Ingredients

1 small boiled sweet potato
1/2 cup oat flakes
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla
Sugar to taste

Preparation

1- Cut the sweet potato into pieces.

2- Place in a blender and add the teaspoon of cinnamon.

3- Add sugar to taste and two glasses of water.

4- Blend and add the tablespoon of vanilla and oats.

5- Serve in a glass with ice.

Honestly, it is exquisite; I confess that I had never had this smoothie before, let alone prepared it; you have to try it, of course, it has to be well chilled.

This sweet tuber is called sweet potato and in my country it is also known as chaco or batata. I know two types: a white one and an orange one. It provides us with vitamin C and E and potassium; thanks to these vitamins it is a powerful natural antioxidant.

According to my personal opinion, the orange sweet potato is sweeter but I don't find it so common. Sweet potato is recommended for athletes because it is very healthy.

La mamá de mi nieto me regaló dos batatas y no sé por qué razón vino a mi mente de hacer un batido; me preguntaba cómo sería. Si tendría buen sabor. Siempre comí batata como verdura en una sopa de mondongo de res o de granos con cochino.

Bien sancoché las dos piezas pero solamente utilicé la más pequeña porque no sabía cómo quedaría la bebida. Pasé por el dilema de echarle leche o no y decidí por usar avena.

Batata con avena

Ingredientes

1 batata pequeña sancochada
1/2 taza de avena
1 cucharadita de canela
1 cucharada de vainilla
Azúcar al gusto

Preparación

1- Cortar en trozos la batata.

2- Colocar en la licuadora y agregar la cucharita de canela.

3- Agregar azúcar la gusto y dos vasos de agua.

4- Licuar y agregar la cucharada de vainilla y avena.

5- Servir en un vaso con hielo.

Sinceramente es exquisito; confieso que nunca había tomado este batido y menos prepararlo; tienen que probarlo, eso sí, tiene que estar bien frio.

Este tubérculo dulce es llamado boniato y en mi país es conocido también como chaco o batata. Conozco dos tipos: uno de color blanco y otro de color naranja. Nos aporta vitamina C y E y potasio; gracias a estas vitaminas es un potente antioxidante natural.

Según mi opinión personal, la batata naranja es más dulce pero no me parece tan común. La batata, boniato o chaco es recomendada para los deportistas porque es muy saludable.
