Hello lovers of @amazingdrink, welcome you all to my blog. Today I am thrilled to share with us a very delicious and nutritious drink commonly known as tigernut drink and kunu aya here in the north. A combination of different blends.
Tigernut drink is a very unique and special drink prepared for nice treats and relaxation. It is not just the combination of coconut, dates, and tigernut alone, it is packed also with healthy nutrients the body needs. It can be prepared during picnics, dinner's, family get together but I specifically prepared mine for my family something healthy and natural to chill with.
Tiger nut offers different health benefits to the body because of its high fiber content, essential vitamins, antioxidants. They promote digestion, lower blood sugar, improve heart health and others. Coconut is an anti aging product, good for skin care, healthy bones and teeth too. Lastly dates which help to increase energy and so many more.
I still very well remembered the first day I tested tigernut drink and that was when I was in junior high school. My friend's mom would make so many and take it to the market to sell to her customers. So this very day, my friend brought one and offered it to me.I refused but she promised me I would like it and of course after testing it, I fell in love with it. You know how teens behave when they like something. I went home and told my mom about it and from there she made an enquiry about how to go about the procedure.
Today I am glad that I can now perfectly prepare it myself and in large quantities too.
This delightful drink as earlier said was prepared for my amazing family which they enjoyed and I also enjoyed it too cause why won't I partake in this refreshing joy. 😀
The process of making this drink is not so strenuous and consumes little time too. The ingredients can be sourced easily in our various local markets and for a good price.
To begin with our drink, these were the ingredients used:
*Tigernut (one market measure 'mudu')
*One coconut
*dates (as desired)
*Water (Two medium cups)
*Ice (as desired)
Procedures
Firstly, I washed the tiger nut properly about three times because of dirt so we want it to be clean. And then soak it for five hours. If you can't wait, soak overnight.
I proceeded to break my coconut. cut it into slices, and Wash well.
Next was to soak my date in water which stayed for about 30 mins. Wash well and I removed the seed inside.
When all that was done, I washed the tiger nut again and combined all the ingredients together.
I then blend it. You can either use an electric blender or the local one.
Lastly, I added water, use a cheese cloth to extract the juice. If you like you can add sugar but I left mine like that. Our drink is ready for consumption.
Add ice to keep it chill and enjoy.
