I am back with another refreshing juice, the classic Papelon with lemon, the traditional drink in eastern Venezuela. It is very common to find it on the menu of restaurants, kiosks and even street vendors and it is understandable, given the relentless sun that shrouds the city.
We prepare this juice relatively often at home, as we love lemon and it has become our favorite drink, even little Alma loves it with ice.
Ingredients
- Half a cone of papelon
- Three large lemons
- One liter of water
Preparation
- First place the papelon in a container with half a liter of water, it can be whole or chopped into pieces, depending on the consistency.
- Once it is completely dissolved, approximately one hour, the liquid is strained to eliminate impurities. Then pour it into a pitcher and add the other half liter of water.
- Then the lemons are squeezed, this procedure is also done over a strainer, and it is stirred until the desired flavor is obtained.
- Finally, it is served with crushed ice. Four glasses were obtained from this preparation.

Vuelvo con otro jugo refrescante, se trata del clásico Papelón con limón, la bebida tradicional en el oriente venezolano. Es muy común encontrarlo en el menú de los restaurantes, kioscos y hasta vendedores ambulantes y es de entenderse, dado el sol implacable que arropa la ciudad.
Este jugo lo preparamos en casa con relativa frecuencia, pues nos encanta el limón y se ha convertido en nuestra bebida favorita, inclusive a la pequeña Alma le encanta con hielo.
Ingredientes
- Medio cono de papelón
- Tres limones grandes
- Un litro de agua
Preparación
- Primero se coloca el papelón en un recipiente con medio litro de agua, puede ser entero o picado en trozos, dependiendo de la consistencia.
- Una vez que esté totalmente disuelto, aproximadamente una hora, se procede a colar el líquido para eliminar impurezas. Posteriormente se vierte en una jarra y se le agrega el otro medio litro de agua.
- Luego se exprimen los limones, este procedimiento también se realiza sobre un colador, y se remueve hasta obtener el sabor deseado.
- Para finalizar se sirve con hielo picado. De esta preparación salieron cuatro vasos.
El jugo puede presentar variantes dependiendo de los ingredientes. La panela de papelón otorga otro sabor, también el limón que puede ser criollo, de injerto, limonsón, cajero y hasta el exótico limón mandarino. Espero que les haya gustado esta bebida, nos leemos en una próxima entrega.
