I show you the ingredients and how to prepare it, this time driven by intuition and creativity.
Ingredients:
- 1 piece of watermelon
- 2 medium gingers
- 2 teaspoons honey or to taste
- 1 cup of water
Procedure:
- Cut the watermelon into small pieces. It seems like a simple step, but you need to be very thorough when it comes to removing the seeds.
- It should also be considered that the watermelon is a fruit that contains a lot of water, for this reason, to prepare a patilla juice you have to add less water than is added to other fruit, to avoid that, on the one hand it becomes tasteless or, when adding sugar (in this case honey), it loses the flavor of watermelon.
- Wash and grate the ginger, then boil it in half a cup of water. Once it is ready, strain it and let it rest until it cools down.
- Then, in the glass of the blender, pour the pieces of the watermelon, half a glass of water, the ginger and the honey. This measure resulted in only one glass, which was the amount I needed at that moment.
I didn't want to add slushy ice to my juice because it would lose the properties of the ginger. I like the sensation that this medicinal root causes in my throat. The combination is exotic and pleasant, ginger and honey are recommended for flu-like processes and I added watermelon for its flavor and healing properties.

Procedimiento:
- Cortar la patilla en trocitos. Parece un paso sencillo, pero se debe ser muy minucioso en lo que respecta a la extracción de las semillas.
- También se debe considerar que la patilla es una fruta que contiene mucha agua, por tal razón, para preparar un jugo de patilla hay que agregar menos agua de la que se añade a otra fruta, para evitar que, por una parte quede insípido o, que al agregar azúcar (en este caso miel), pierda el sabor a patilla.
- Lavar y rallar el jengibre, luego se hierve en media taza de agua. Una vez que esté listo se cuela y se deja reposar hasta que se enfríe.
- Posteriormente, en el vaso de la licuadora se vierten los trozos de patilla, medio vaso de agua, el jengibre y la miel. Esta medida resultó en un solo vaso, que era la cantidad que necesitaba en ese momento.
A mi jugo no le quise añadir hielo granizado porque perdería las propiedades del jengibre. Me gusta la sensación que provoca esta raíz medicinal en mi garganta. La combinación es exótica y agradable, el jengibre y la miel se recomiendan para procesos gripales y yo le añadí patilla por el sabor y sus propiedades curativas.
