The contest is about winning a 12 mana battle using any splinter of my choice, the 12 mana happens to be the lowest mana that can be given in battles and some people find it difficult in selecting a good number of cards due to the low mana and end up using just one card which doesn't guarantee a win most times...
I love using the earth splinter with its 2 mana summoner xander foxwood mostly as it is still the best splinter for the 12 mana battle .. So i got a 12 mana battles in one of the ts account that i play which is @ts-dragon.
The rule of the battle stated:
- Lost legendaries: Legendary monsters may not be used in battles..
This rule actually make it impossible for my enemy to appear with Kron as legendary cards can't be used but still i have no idea what he/she is going to come up with so i need a set up that will make my front infiltrable and my defence must not be weak either...So i came up with this set up.
SET UP
- FAILED SUMMONER
The failed summoner is a 2 mana monster and it belongs to the earth splinter, it can also be categorised as a non-attack monsters and it has 9 lifes at max with 2 speed... it is bestowed with three unique abilities which are:
- magic reflect: [When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker.] at level 1.
- demoralize: [Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters.] at level 6.
- strengthen: [All friendly Monsters have increased Health] at max level...
I used it as my first card solely because of its magic reflect and long life, if my enemy comes with magic attack monsters then he will put himself to blame cos they will suffer great damage while attacking my failed summoner and also its demoralize ability will reduce my opponent monster's melee attack by -1 which makes them weaker incase he came with sneaking melee monsters which he actually did....
- AIR ELEMENTAL
The Air elemental is a 3 mana monster with a range attack, it has only one unique ability which is the healing ability and it is activated at level 4. The combination of its long life and healing ability makes it a suitable monster to be put in the second position so it can withstand any blast or snipe attacks from the opponent monsters..
- KHMER PRINCESS
This khmer princess is a 2 mana card and can also be referred to as a healer, it is a magic monster and has 5 lifes, she is bestowed with 2 unique abilities which are
- Tank heal: [Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round] at level 4
- Triage: [Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage.] at level 8 which is max
I used it as my third card which happens to be the middle because there is a lot of responsibility placed on her and i need her to be safe from attacks so she can save the others, her heal tank will restore failed summoner health and her triage ability will help restore life back to my monster that suffers the most damage...
- GOBLIN CHEF
The Goblin chef is a 3 mana monster and is bestowed with two special abilities which are
- Affliction: [When a Monster with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.] at level 4
- Poison: [Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.] at level 8
I used it as my fourth card so it will have enough chance to afflict the enemy's monster incase he come with a healer and also his poison damage is very fatal and it will help win the battle faster if it works effectively...
- FURIOUS CHICKEN
The chicken is no doubt the most used monster in splinterlands due to the fact that it cost no mana and it is not useless as many thinks cos it also helps to delay your opponent monsters in reaching your fighting monsters and hence the reason why i use it as my last card incase my opponent comes with sneak monsters, the chicken will take a hit before they get to my main monsters and it actually serve its purpose...
- Summary and Analysis
My opponent ended up selecting sneaking monsters in the battle and my monsters performed to expectation, the failed summoner reduced the melee attack of the two sneaky monsters that he used and the furious chicken cause a little delay before the sneaking monsters could touch my fighting monsters.. The khmer princess triage ability helps to keep the goblin chef alive longer enough to poison and eliminate the opponent first monster which makes him vulnerable to more attacks from me and i conquered him.. This set up is the best for 12 mana rules and if i am to rate it , i will give it 90% win for rules without legendaries.
- Cons
The possibility of losing is if my monsters attack keep missing the opponent monsters, then that could cost me the battle but aside that, the set up rocks big time!
