Everything was going swimmingly for Spanish giants Real Madrid. They wiped out the champions of the world Chelsea to confirm the passage to the UCL semi-finals with a spectacular comeback. Benzema was in form of his life. Vinicius started to live up to his vague promise. Arsenio, Rodrygo was firing in front of the goal. Valverde and Camavinga were making a difference with their enthusiasm and natural talent on the pitch. And regarding Modric what else can I dare to say! How to illustrate his vision and charismatic displays! How could I probably put, whichever syllables all together to simply describe his passion for the Royal whites! The level of arousal he brings is remarkable. I don’t know how he pulls those effortlessly! Well, how to define him! I don't know.
About Kroos, he is as always equivalent. He constantly delivers at the highest level no matter the occasion. Mr Consistent. His passing accuracy is always top of the scale. It’s not as easy as it seems to dictate the game flow of a club like Madrid.
Courtois is without any debate the best goalkeeper in the world right now. And the dark skills of Casemiro are as always fascinating. Madrid was 12 points clear of their arch-rival Barcelona. Everything was going very well. Madrid fans were more than thrilled.
Madrid was marching towards the title. There was none to stop them until they encountered Sevilla, who currently sits third on the league standings. After the action started Madrid was not able to break their barriers. No wonder why Sevilla holds the best defensive record in LaLiga this campaign. Madrid was struggling, they were second best in the two-horse race due to the ball control of Sevilla. Even pushing high failed to interrupt their rhythm. Sevilla was in complete control. It’s quite evident to go a little aggressively during this precise moment to win the ball back. In doing so Madrid gifted Sevilla a free kick near the d-box where scoring threats are higher. Madrid’s nightmare proved to be true. A fantastic free-kick from Rackatic in the 20th minute of the game seems more like a defensive blunder of the man in charge of the wall in front of the best keeper now at the time apparently.
Madrid wasn’t ready to accept a defeat. They started to advance higher on the pitch to grab a goal as rapidly as feasible. Before Madrid could heal from the catastrophe it again managed to haunt them. Taking chances this time made sure to make them pay. On the right-wing, a flicked from Acuna managed to find Jesus Corona studiously avoiding Militao. Courtois opted to rush forward to stop him from netting by pressing hard which may force him into making a hasty and foolish choice. Nevertheless, he ended up finding Erick Lamela. The outcome was never really a matter of much debate whenever the post isn’t safeguarded by the goalkeeper. In the span of just 24 minutes, Madrid eventually found themselves two goals too far behind.
As we all know Madrid never gives up. They believe in fighting till death. But this time it was more difficult since their fans weren’t there to keep them encouraged as this was an away match. Sevilla fans were frequently booing Madrid on the ball. Life couldn’t get tougher as Camavinga saw a yellow card early in the 31st minute. Since he was a CDM with a yellow card, he was like a disaster waiting to happen that may potentially ruin Madrid's hope for good in this match. Luckily he dodged a second yellow card in the 39th minute of the game. So, Carlo Ancelotti opted to introduce Rodrygo just at the beginning of the second half replacing Camavinga.
Madrid was missing Casemiro as well for sure. As he is their saviour in defence. With him, things could have been different for sure. As we know no one's ball is safe when Casemiro is against him.
Marcello and Mendy were injured. So Carvajal had to occupy the role of an LB today. In the last two matches, he featured as an RB, CB, and now LB. He covered the entire defense within a week. No matter the position he delivered every fucking time.
Ancelotti started to demonstrate his tour de force in the second half. Madrid was dominating Sevilla. Accepting defeat was never a consideration for the Royal Whites. Madrid needed to score as quickly as feasible. In the 47th minute, Modric uncovered Benzema in the d-box in a scoring range. But Bounou wasn’t yet willing to have it. A bloody terrific save from him left Madrid annoyed. But when it’s Madrid we know they are going to make you suffer. To earn a win from them perhaps even suffering and dying just on the pitch usually just isn't enough. Just after two minutes, Vinicius continued to take upon Sevilla’s defence. A back-heel from him enabled Carvajal the liberty to launch a low-driven cross that did end up in Sevilla’s net via Rodrygo.
Madrid was still in need of two goals to march toward titles. Nobody anticipated that they could turn around by breaching the strongest defence in LaLiga. But Madrid never buried their aspirations. They genuinely believed in fighting to the death. But Sevilla was also poised for them. In the 76th minute, Madrid was robbed of a wonderful effort from Vinicius. Still, I didn’t manage to digest how on earth VAR turned this around by labelling it as a handball. I don’t know what to say.
It doesn’t matter if the whole world is against Madrid. They are the maestro of silencing doubters. In the 82nd minute, a stunning one-touch from Carvajal eluded two Sevilla players, further on, that allowed an opportunity for Nacho to strike. He slid it through the bustle of Sevilla defenders.
Dani Carvajal assisted one goal as an LB and another as an RB. As far as I know, this is the first time in history for a player to do so in a match. And don’t forget he accomplished it coming from two goals down allowing his team to get both their equalizers.
Madrid pulled off what no one can anticipate. What a master class by Madrid & Co. But it wasn’t still quite enough for Madrid. They wanted all three points. They were throwing attack after attack upon Sevilla. Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Benzema partnered to slap Sevilla and their loud and boisterous fans who were constantly booing Madrid the entire night. Benzema sealed three points for Real Madrid. While everyone believed it was game over for Madrid, they were more than eager and willing to disappoint all of them in style. From two goals afterwards to win 3-2. Crazy! Breathtaking! Incredible! Tell me How Can I Not Love You! 🤍 My beloved Madrid.
Benzema just scored his 25th goal in LaLiga this season. He became the 3rd top scorer in LaLiga for Madrid.
Raúl González: 228 🔥❄
Benzema: 217 🔥❄
Exactly 12 additional goals to put his stamp on the record as the 2nd top goal-scorer in LaLiga for Madrid. He also leads LaLiga with 37-goal involvement.
That’s not all. When it’s Benzema in form of his life! He also overtook his idol R9 for more goals in a single season in LaLiga.
Hey! What’s the hurry? Benzema also became the 10th player for Madrid to hit 25 goals during a single season of LaLiga.
At the courtesy of Benzema Madrid took one step closer to LaLiga's crowns.
This will make Carlo Ancelotti the very first manager to win all of the top five leagues in Europe.
