Ninety percent of all those who fail are not actually defeated they simply quit - John Maxwell
I don't know you but i'm going to take a guess that one of the words in the title be it lazy bored or lacking motivation sparked your interest. I'm also guessing that one of these things is holding you back from pursuing a goal that you really want to accomplish.
Maybe you think you're lazy, maybe you sit on the couch all day watching tv, eating junk food and rarely making progress to your goals. I bet you're not lazy, maybe you're bored with life. This could look the same as lazy but i bet you're not bored, you could be procrastinating, you could find a hundred things to do that keep you from doing the one task that you know that you should be doing, the one thing that will move you towards your goals.
I doubt that you have a lack of motivation if the right thing happened to you then a flame would be lit under your butt and you would have plenty of motivation.
See i don't think you're lazy bored or unmotivated, i think there is a very specific reason for your procrastination. I think you're probably afraid most of the negative emotions and inaction that we experience all comes back to fear as yoda famously said in star wars, “fear is the path to the dark side”.
You aren't lazy, you're afraid of failing, You aren't bored. you're afraid of the hard work it might take you lack motivation because you're afraid your goal isn't big enough, important enough.
You procrastinate because you are afraid that you are not good enough whatever it is. I've got good news for you. Fear isn't real, it's a figment of your imagination.
Fear like this only exists in our imagination of the future of what could happen. Our mind dreams up hundreds of possible problems, issues, and reasons.
why we can't do something ?
why we should be afraid of it ?
The funny thing is that if you start working towards whatever goal that fear is keeping you from pursuing then you realize that 99 of the problems you imagined never happen. You probably experienced one of them that you did see and a whole bunch that you didn't even
think of.
Now you get to solve them, don't get me wrong there will absolutely always and most definitely be problems and obstacles any time that you are chasing a goal of any size but that is part of the journey. A big part of the journey is overcoming the obstacles that you will face
in servant of servants by robert frost, he writes.
He says that the best way out is always through and i agree to that or in so far as that i can see no way out but through all of the fears that i mentioned above.
You're likely to face some or all of these if you strive for a goal. Honestly there are plenty of other fears that you may encounter too. Realize that, it's okay to be afraid, it's okay to fail, it's okay to work hard and still not accomplish something.
It's okay, to set a goal that is unattainable or one that was too easy. Each time you hit one of these roadblocks it simply means that you can start again or update your goal. Along the way you will learn something that will make you smarter, stronger more adaptable, and more resilient.
Laziness, procrastination, lack of motivation, and boredom; these things are all just a form of fear. They are throwing in the towel probably long before you should remember, ninety percent of all those who fail are not actually defeated, they simply quit.
Many of the negative emotions that you feel on a daily basis are rooted in fear, don't let it beat you.
