I described about Backlinks in almost all of my SEO related guides. There are two types of backlinks according to Follow -
1. NoFollow Backlinks
Nofollow links mean when a website tells Google or other search engines not to follow any backlink. That means if you post your link to any No Follow website you'll not actually get any backlink from that site. So, actually from No Follow websites, you won't get any SEO benefit. Almost all the social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram are No Follow websites.
2. DoFollow Backlinks
Dofollow link means when a website allows Google or other search engines to track backlinks. That means you will only get quality backlinks by posting on Dofollow websites. Dofollow websites allowing backlinks from various websites and telling Google that - You can follow these linked websites as their quality is good!

Here I will talk about some popular nofollow websites which will help you to get a lot of traffic.
Medium
Medium is one of the top online blogging platform which was established in 2012. Within few years Medium captured the top place in Blogging sectors. But backlinks on Medium are nofollow links. That means Medium is a nofollow website and tells Google or other search engines not to follow any external link that they have.
So writing a blog on Medium may bring you popularity but adding backlinks on those blogs won't bring actual SEO value.
So why people are still adding backlink on their Medium articles?
Because you can get a lot of readers from Medium by writing a well-written article. Medium is getting approx 40 Million visitors every month and its Domain Score is 98, which is almost perfect!
So definitely, you'll get lots of readers if you write on Medium. Those readers will explore your content and click on the backlinks (if they find it useful) that you inputted in the article. The reasons behind why people are answering questions on Quora - To become popular, to get sales, to get lots of traffic. And yeah, getting traffic is the main reason to use Quora for Hive.
According to ubersuggest, monthly visitors of Quora is around 95 million! Can you imagine that!
As a new decentralized platform, the growth of Hive is already extraordinary. But we need lots more visitors and we need to convert them as our users.
That's why answering questions on Quora is important if you want to get new users on Hive. I will clarify more on this below.
Moreover, if you want to rank your article on Google, and if you want more visibility, Quora can be a good platform to help you out. Let's learn more about what I just said.
As like as Medium, Quora is also a nofollow website. You won't get actual direct SEO value. But you can get a lot of traffics by providing answers and inputting backlinks to your answers.
As you can see someone asked a question - What's the easiest way to make money online? And Barry answered the question brilliantly. You can see that he also used a backlink of his website in the answer. He achieved what he wanted! His answer was viewed by 13000 people within just a few months!
Before coming to the Hive blog, I wasn't a regular Twitter person. Honestly, I understood the importance of centralized social media Twitter after started blogging. And I use Twitter only for marketing and advertising purpose. Nothing else!
Let's come to the point! Twitter is one of the top social media platform which has approx 110 million monthly visitors. It is a nofollow website, but it provides great value to bloggers and other website owners. Because you can get lots of visitors just from a tweet!
To make this happen you need to use the correct and trending hashtag to your Tweet. Suppose you wrote an article for Bangladeshi people. So if you add the hashtag #bangladesh in your tweet it may get more attention. Adding correct and related hashtags will give you visitors to your website from Twitter and few subscribers as well.

I got lots of visitors from Twitter to Hive. Now it's really fun to use Twitter for Hive. It's increasing engagement on my Hive's content and I met with some other Hivers on Twitter.
When you will get traffic from Nofollow websites like Twitter, your Alexa ranking, domain authority, page authority will increase. Not because of nofollow backlink from Twitter, just because for getting traffic to your website.
So, I hope now you understand why nofollow backlinks are important! I see a lot of SEO experts who totally ignore nofollow backlinks and tell bloggers to work only with dofollow links. If you ask me I will say - this is a dumbass idea to ignore nofollow social media sites.
Besides dofollow, nofollow backlinks also help you to rank your website and get a lot of visitors!
