Well when people ask about my most favorite season, I get deeply confused. My heart always cherish rain but as a whole season, I think I will go for winter.
Winter is like a festive season for me. One reason can be it's a blessing for veggie lovers! One of my favourite dishes is fulkopi-tomator ar dhone patar patla jhole rui mach ah, can't control my watery mouth now!
But mostly I countdown for winter because I'm a badminton enthusiast. Every day, when dusk hits, I pack myself up with my favourite jacket, jeans, and muffler. Putting my sneakers on, I take the badminton bag and ride my the rusty paste-coloured cycle to our field. As I'm the most super-hyped one in our badminton group, I always make myself visible way before others. Turning on the court light, I stretch and warm myself with two rounds of jogging around the field. But seeing the preparation, don't assume me as a super pro player. Actually, I don't have that much variation for servings, nor have super smash techniques. But this is the only outdoor game that I've permission to play. From a Bangladeshi restricted family, how much can you ask? Thus for having a huge enthusiasm for sports, I can't control my excitement when the badminton season starts.
We mostly play boys and girls duo where we get enough scope to polish our skill. Sometimes we arrange BBQ or leta khichuri parties which max our excitement out. As I love to play the protagonist role, mostly I get the lead from collecting money to put the marinated chicken on the grilling tray. Though it's a big hassle, still I always love to take it!
Amidst all this excitement, sometimes my childhood winter flashes before my eyes. Back then, winter meant visiting bari, collecting paddies and husking them, making winter pittas beside our matir chula trying to catch fish with handmade fishing rods, taking the whole gang when nature called at night, sleeping in one bed with all of our cousins. Sometimes, we passed our midnights telling horror stories, sounds from the running rats up from the ceiling created the frightening environment, we got the final chill when the dew drops fall on us from the tin roof. Sometimes, I dream of those nights to come, where I can enjoy those golden memories again, for one more time!
