Opportunity is one of my most favorite abilities and one of the very first ones I learned to use tactically! There are only a very few opportunity monsters out there and most of them are quite effective when used properly. In low mana games, Screeching Vulture and Serpentine Spy are extremely useful and in earthquake rule, the Vulture provides extra benefit. Cave slug is excellent in reverse speed games. But my most favorite is the legendary Dragon Jumper, without a doubt, in the blink of an eye! I have a very sentimental attachment to it. This was one of the first 2 legendaries I pulled from the untamed booster packs. The other was Cornealus and I have already confessed my love about that in another post! This was just when I started playing and I didn't really have a proper deck. I thought of selling these and using that to level up commons and rares as I was losing games despite having better strategy, merely because my cards were at a lower level. But something told me to keep it. And since then, the number of times Dragon Jumper has won me games almost single handedly is uncountable! Sure, now I have a diverse deck and I don't use a single card too often. But when I had almost nothing, merely level 1 cards and playing experience of 4-5 days in Splinterlands, Dragon Jumper played a huge part in me reaching Diamond 3 league! Can you imagine that! So my sentimental attachment to Dragon Jumper is well justified and I am never selling mine! No wonder my opportunity monster of choice will be a battle with Dragon Jumper!
That was too big of an intro, I know! But hey! Dragon Jumper deserves it, so shut up!
The Battle
Here's the Battle Link. It was a 40 mana, silenced summoner and no magic ruleset with all splinters disabled except the Dragon and Fire Splinters.
My Lineup
I love Goblin Mech at tank! An absolute beast, especially in a no magic battle! The opposition can't just sneak through it's armor! As you can see the opposition tank was Lord A. and because of its shield a strong meele attack was needed to cause significant damage. Despite the thorn, Goblin Mech helpd its own and survived long enough! At position 2 was Manticore because of it's reach ability. I don't like my meele monsters sitting idle at non-first position. I want all my monsters to do a bit of attacking if conditions allow! at only 4 mana and 7 health, Manticore fits into almost any lineup! It's good health also helped against Lord A's thorn ability. And at position 3 War Chang. I really Like War chang, because even though I choose it as my backup Tank for its decent health, it will keep doing small range attacks till its time comes and not just sit idle!

I put Dragon Jumper as far away from the tank position as possible because I wanted to make use of the opportunity ability. As only dragon and fire splinter was available, and my opponent had been using fire splinter in 3 of his last 5 battles, I was expecting fire splinter. The fire splinter has some absolute beast mode monsters but with really low health like the Fire Elemental and Spark Pixie are notoriously fast and Fire elemental even has the blast! Serpentine Spy, another super fast opportunity monster with an excellent meele attack for 3 mana! So I wanted to exploit the low health of these explosive monsters with Dragon Jumper. And it worked out perfectly! With 2 attacks, it took out the Fire elemental and Spark pixie, protecting my Manticore from blasts! Don't forget, Dragon Jumper himself is extremely fast with 5 speed and has much better health than all the other opportunity monsters. So with it in the lineup, I don't have to worry too much about protecting it from opportunity attacks of the opposition!
