Me and my friend, we were reviewing the report we had to submit for our thesis, just part of it. So, while at it she was scrolling through Facebook before we lost connection to our thesis for a good amount of time.
One day just like that day, she was scrolling through facebook when she came across the advertisement for BACHAO foundation. Bachao - Join the WAR against RAPE. Immediately, it took away her attention. She sat and read all that she could.
You know, every time she goes outside alone, either she used to share her link or let me know where she is or definitely send me her GPS location to my phone. Honestly, I never thought that she thought of a scenario like such that she will be in heavy danger and she will need help. I used to think that she did that so that if she gets lost I can maybe track her down? I never thought out that clearly. Until, when she enthusiastically shared her interest in this foundation; BACHAO. More like, their initiative.
She read a review of a girl, who downloaded the app and was just fiddling with her phone until she realized that she isn't getting anything, So she left her phone and sat to study. Meanwhile, many people gathered near her house and were searching for her, and messages were sent to her phone but she was far away from knowing. After about two hours and so, she got back to her phone only to realize that she mistakenly has pressed the red button "Rape Alert" on her phone. Furthermore, many people were searching for her in her GPS location but none could actually find her as she was in her room but she could see all from her window pane. Interestingly, the people were still there in search of her. After realizing all that obviously, she took the responsibility for it.
The main reason I am here sharing this over in this platform has quite a few reasons. First, I had to let people know of it, not only females but males too. Secondly, as we are a decentralized platform, I felt this network that connects people to one person in time of need, is similar to that of this platform. We all ARE connected here for our personal needs. Besides, we are trying to adjust and readjust, mingle and shape our lives in a connected manner. We ARE helping each other, this being my main point, I feel BACHAO app is doing a fabulous job at connecting people to help, save and let society be a better place to live in for all; females and males.
One can be a volunteer of BACHAO. Once the victim switches on the alert, an alert will be sent to the nearby volunteers for the rescue mission. I am not yet a user, so this is all I can say about it.
As soon as I get a smartphone, I DO plan on downloading this app and making it possible to reach out to others and also for myself in time of need. That friend of mine too, has similar plans, as both of our phones are extremely on the verge of retirement. Mine is, but her one is like in a hospital bed for months now. So, yeah. We plan to download it soon, do you?
Are you handicapped, now?
