I had wrote about how excited I was to meet my niece Isabel for the first time several months ago. It was a meeting that paved the way for our relationship that is special to me and that has also developed over time. She is a cute little girl who has an interesting personality. Members of my family were delighted as we braced up for the celebration of her first birthday over the weekend.
The day started with a special session of prayer led by her grandma. The other members of the family also took turns to pray for her. We thanked God for his grace upon her life and for making her a member of our family. We also asked Him to give us the wisdom and resources needed to nurture and train her to become a responsible individual who will impact humanity positively. We sang the popular "Happy birthday to you" song after the end of the prayer session and offered her our best wishes. She was feeling sleepy as we sang to her and this made us decide to let her sleep as she needed to rest. We proceeded with preparations for the party afterwards.
Preparations for a toddlers birthday party is quite demanding! Tasks were delegated to each member of the family and the preparations began. All hands were on deck! The preparations took longer than expected and we soon found ourselves running against time! Fortunately for us we were able to finish our respective tasks before guests began to arrive. The party was scheduled to commence by 3p.m and I was quite worried when we had not received any guests an hour after the set time for the party. I went to my room to rest for a short period of time because I was feeling exhausted from the tasks that were delegated to me. I feel asleep unconsciously and was surprised when my younger brother woke me up to inform me about the arrival of our guests. He told me the area allocated for the reception of guests was fully occupied and that we may need to get more chairs for those who are yet to arrive. I was elated and wondered why I worried about our guests honouring our invitation earlier! Apparently, I was impatient and perhaps eager to get the party started! I went to the reception area for guests to take a sneek peek and was impressed with the turn out of guests. I told my brother we may need to act on his suggestion of getting more chairs for guests who have not arrived yet.

Isabel the celebrant made her entry into the reception area with her mum by her side. The party began with an opening prayer that was led by one of the guests. The MC of the event took the helms of affairs after the end of the prayer and the frenzy began! The guests who were mostly children were fired up and electrified the ambience! The MC initiated several games and contests that were interesting and hilarious. The kids participated in the games and had a lot of fun too. They keenly competed for the prizes to be given to winners of the games and made us laugh while at it! Isabel was shy and overwhelmed by the presence of the guests as she has never been in such a gathering outside the congregation in church. However she was cajoled by her mum and subsequently joined the fun train! Foods and drinks were served to guests as they had fun. The kids continued to amuse us as they performed some interesting dance moves while dancing. It was a spectacle to behold and made us laugh to our heart's content! Their energy was simply amazing! They were the life of the party!
It was time for Isabel to cut her cake and we all cheered her on. She was reluctant to cut the cake but got persuaded by her mum with the guests encouraging her. The cake was cut by Isabel with the aid of her mum after a countdown was made by the guests. They cheered her afterwards and wished her a happy birthday by singing. The party continued with it's frenzy but eventually came to an end. I felt gratified with the outcome as it was indeed a fun-filled party!
We are grateful as a family to have celebrated this milestone attained by Isabel with her and wish her the best that life has to offer. We also appreciate our guests for making out time to celebrate with us. You guys rock!
