Welcome to LeoTravel… you guessed it, a travel community on InLeo!
It’s a great idea to build out the Leo brand, and have all the various topics and interests covered as we go forward.
We have many on Hive in general (and they can carry right on and be a complement to what we have here), but we need to build a network right here and make this the prominent front-end and the centre of people’s activities, if we want to make the most of what we’re building.
I posted the other day about the LeoBooks community, which you should really get involved with if that’s your thing. Now we turn our attention to the whole area of travel and adventure pursuits!
This will encompass all things travel related, everything and everyone welcome so long as it’s in the travel arena.
Even if you’re talking about your own backyard, it’s a destination for others so don’t be limited to exotic holidays, but also the nitty-gritty and the day-to-day. It’s not about clichés, but about real people, real stories, and real experiences.
I’ll kick-off with one particular travel experience last year that may be of interest to many a Hivean or Lion. This year I’ve barely traveled… just sampled more local delights. But 2022 was quite a busy one…
The highlight (and most relevant to most folks reading) was a little adventure to that wacky Dutch capital, Amsterdam. What a place! I’ve been before but just walking down the street is a crazy adventure, like being in a live comic book 😅.
It was also the location of last year’s HiveFest, which I was fortunate enough to attend. I wasn’t able to get to Mexico this year, which was a shame but very pleased to make the last one, along with the 2017 iteration in Lisbon.
So let’s take you on a little journey…
Unfortunately the weather was not quite so great as those who made their way to Rosarito this year… but Amsterdam and HiveFest aren’t really about the weather are they. And the Netherlands conditions certainly kept us on our toes 😉.
I ended up writing 7 articles on it, so there must have been something to it. To start with, we need a bit of background on all these shenanigans…
First we answer the question: what is HiveFest? And whilst we’re at it, what is Hive?!

Then we get into the meat of it, beginning with an overview and opening thoughts of the experience…

Then we cover each day's activities…
Part 2: Arrival in Amsterdam

Part 3: Bring on the Beers

Part 6: Hangin’ at De Hoop

So that was that! Incredible few days that formed part of a wider trip in September and beyond, and I wrote a Travel Review for ‘22 article as well summing a lot of this stuff up.
I hope it was all that and more in Mexico this year and that everyone hit new heights and rocked it in Rosarito. I also wrote a series on Lisbon 2017, but that’s another story… and let’s see what 2024 brings!
What about you? Any great travel stories, moments or activities you’d like to share?
Please do feel free to join and get involved with the LeoTravel community and we can make it a central hub for all our crazy (and more 'pedestrian') adventures and antics.
You can post long-form content into the LeoTravel community, and be sure to use the #leotravel hashtag in related Threads.
Cheers, and happy travels! ✈️
