A group of friends from Simply Nutrition invited me to go ice skating with them.
I've never ice skated before, so I spent the beginning moments mentally preparing myself.
As I walked up to lease the skate, I found myself mentally walking through the process of putting them on.
I even took a moment to stare at them, and prepared myself for the experience.
I even glanced over at a helmet laying on the floor next to me, wondering if I should've brought one. Not that I had one, but the thought was there.
So I sat down on the wooden platform, and began to lace up my skates.
Now I just had to stand up, and walk over to the ice.
I might've quacked once or twice as I waddled over to the entrance.
I brushed off the concern towards transitioning from the ground to ice. Strengthening my resolve, and proceeded to step onto the ice.
I will admit that I questioned the sanity of going skating for the first time without anyone to instruct me.
I will say I did pretty good. I was relieved to discover that my friends were still in the process of learning themselves. As I watched them, it occurred to me that the first hurdle I had to overcome was the fear of falling. I'm proud to day did not fall, though it does appear to be an inevitable part of the learning process.
