A few months ago my daughter was in Cologne in Germany and she visited one of the more famous landmarks of the place, the Hohenzollern Bridge.
The bridge is famous for the hundreds of thousands of padlocks which lovers attached along the railings to symbolize their eternal love to each other. The keys then are thrown to the river Rhine below to further show that their attachment cannot be broken or taken away because the key is lost forever. The bridge consists of 340 railing sections, which are similar to chain link fences and thus, provide an ideal space to attach padlocks. Each section has between 800 and 1,200 love-locks attached to it. Therefore, a good estimate might be 340,000 padlocks in total.
Here's a picture of some of the bridge's railings. Note the padlocks, called "Love Locks" hanging there.
But another amusing and interesting sight that my daughter saw just below the bridge is this ledge which apparently is home to sea gulls, especially at night. A perfect roosting place after a tiring day.
And it's really funny because they all face in one direction!
For this Edition I am submitting the last photo above as my entry. The harbor lights could be seen reflected on the river below, thus my personal Keyword is REFLECTION.
That's all for now folks. Keep safe and wishing all the other participants the best of luck in the contest.
