What lurks in the forgotten ruins of Ancient peoples?

Well, since this is Glednumbria we are talking about I guess it should be obvious that the Giants who roam the tundra and plains. But there are some other dangers lurking within some of the Glednum ruins. But first, let’s talk about the Giants.
The Giants of Glednumbria are a terrifying race of nomadic humanoids that stand between 8 and 12 feet tall. They possess a strength that is equal to their terrifying size, able to lift small boulders and hurl them great distances with relative ease, one of their favourite methods of attack. They do not seem to have a gendered hierarchy, with males and females appearing in equal numbers at sieges. It is rumoured that the Giants of Glednumbria have a large settlement in the extreme northwestern reaches of the Human territory, a place so frozen and unforgiving that very few humans have ever ventured out to prove these claims, with even fewer returning.
Giants will use large abandoned structures as ambush points to attack unaware travellers and merchants moving along the many roads of Glednumbria. The Giants of these ambush attacks want two things; food and metal. The food they want is flesh, whether that be horse or human, they do not care. The metal is often raw ore destined for Elven smelteries in the south. Giants will steal wagon loads of ore and smelt them down on the spot by digging a large pit and starting an intense fire. The size and mass of the Giants allow them to collect enough firewood to feed the rudimentary smelters right then and there. Once the ore is molten, they care not about slag or quality, but simply dip in big heavy ladles the size of human heads and pour the content into their footprints made in some soft soil to cool. Giant footprints make a conveniently sized ingot of metal for the easy forging of their three favourite tools; Spearheads, Axe-heads and “small” knives.
I alluded to some other horrors lurking in abandoned ruins though, now didn’t I? Well, these horrors probably won’t shock a well-read adventurer such as yourself, but if you were a farmer in Glednumbria the mention of these monsters nearby would have you quaking in your clogs!

One such area is a region of Glednumbria in the northwest that used to contain several large fortresses. Over the past few decades, there have been reports of gnoll bandits on the roads in the area. Some merchants looking to take a shortcut between the Melt Peaks and Bendy Bright have found the trip to be much more perilous than the main highway. Even if that way adds a week's travel time.
Rumor has it that the deity worshipped by the Gnolls has bestowed a great pet onto the chieftan of the clan of bandits. A demonic dog-like creature known as Shoosuva.
