Hierarchy of the Temple of the Wandering Slumber
Near the Well of Dreams in the Dreampeak Mountains of Aaval sits a nondescript abbey, home to the Temple of the Wandering Slumber.
This organization worships the goddess Bethany the Benevolent, also known as the Wandering Dreamer, the Wandering Slumber, the Benevolent Dream, She-Who-Dreams, and The Dreamweaver.
She herself physically resides far far below the abbey in a lair she crafted and carefully closed back off. She keeps two paths to her lair open at any time, but they are constantly being switched and changed to ensure her safety.
Hers is a small cult, but has been officially sanctioned by the Aavalian government and thus has been granted Temple status so long as they maintain at least one temple complex and a High Priest/Priestess (which the abbey satisfies, given that it is open to the public).
The temple is organized as follows:
High Dreamweaver Zephyra
Zephyra is the ultimate authority of the temple, the dedicated voice of The Wandering Slumber herself. She is responsible for guiding the growth and health of the Temple and spends many hours reflecting on the dreams and visions provided by Bethany.
Reverie Scholar Aldric
A wise old scholar who even before he was part of the Temple spent most of his life studying dreams. He can provide valuable insight into dreams as well as how those dreams may affect reality, and what they may mean.
Dreambound Acolyte Seraphina
Dreambound is the title assumed by acolytes of the temple, and of the various acolytes, only Seraphina regularly stays at the temple, as she’s being groomed by the High Dreamweaver to eventually assume a higher function for the temple.
Mirage Artisan Calista
Calista is the resident artist and smith. She is responsible for the majority of sculptures, ornamental decorations, and artwork within the temple itself. Many - though not all - of the holy symbols the clerics and paladins of the temple use are created by her hand.
Paladins of the temple are known as Dreamwalkers. Besides Syl, there are two other Paladins. Syl is the third to be granted such a title by The Wandering Slumber. Most of Syl’s gear was handed down by the most senior Dreamwalker of the Temple.
The missionaries (mundane priests) are known as Slumbers Heralds. There are less than twenty missionaries, mostly within Aaval, Calh’Lagh, and Esphar. They have established a very simple temple within Cahl’Lagh.
Dreamweavers are the Cleric order of The Wandering Slumber. Mundane priests of the temple generally seek to earn this title and the divine power it brings.
Lastly, there is one other singular title held within the Temple - Manifestor. Currently, this is a title held by the only arcane spellcaster of the order. It is unknown if Manifestor Xenor is a warlock, sorcerer, or wizard. Similarly, their gender, age, and physical description is a mystery known only to the High Dreamweaver and The Wandering Slumber herself.
