This post simply aims to list a series of "firsts" in ECW history, starting with the first-ever show on February 25, 1992. That Eastern Championship Wrestling show took place at the Original Sports Bar in Philadelphia, PA.
Here are the "firsts" starting from 1992:
First match in ECW history:
Jimmy Jannetty and Stevie Richards went to a time limit draw (fist match on that first show)
First match in ECW history with a winner:
Glenn Osbourne defeated Crybaby Waldo (2nd match on the first show)
First tag team match in ECW history:
Johnny Hotbody & Larry Winters double DQ with DC Drake & JT Smith (main event of the first show)
First tag team match with a winner:
DC Drake & JT Smith defeated Johnny Hotbody & Larry Winters (March 24, 1992 in Philadelphia - ECW's 2nd show)
First stipulation match:
Ivan Koloff defeated Tony Stetson in a “Russian chain” match (main event of March 24, 1992 show)
First championship won:
Jimmy Snuka defeated Salvatore Bellomo to become the first ECW Champ (ECW's 3rd show at the Tabor Center on April 25, 1992 -- both men won battle royal matches earlier that night and then faced off to claim the 1st ECW heavyweight championship). These were the first battle royal matches in ECW history as well
First title change:
Johnny Hotbody defeated Jimmy Snuka to win the ECW Title (ECW's 4th show on April 26, 1992 back at the Sports Bar in Philadelphia)
First ECW tag team champions:
The Super Destroyers defeated Max Thrasher & Glenn Osbourne to become the first ECW tag team champions. This was the culmination of a tournament to crown the first tag team champs. It took place on June 23, 1992 at the Sports Bar in Philadelphia.
First tag match featuring more than 4 wrestlers:
Peaches, Don E. Allen, Johnny Hotbody, & Mr. Sandman defeated Vivacious Veronica, Larry Winters, & Tony Stetson in a “handicap” match when Hotbody defeated Veronica. This also was the first handicap match and first match featuring women as wrestlers. The match took place on June 23, 1992 at the Sports Bar in Philadelphia
First ECW TV Title win:
Glenn Osbourne defeated Mr. Sandman to win the vacant ECW TV Title. This took place on September 30, 1992 at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia.
First "Loser Leaves Town" Match:
Tony Stetson defeated Salvatore Bellomo in a “loser leaves town” match. This took place on August 22, 1992 at the Aztec Club in Philadelphia.
First outdoor pinfall victory:
Jimmy Snuka retained the ECW heavyweight championship over Super Destroyer #1 at the Aztec Club in Philadelphia by pinning him in the outdoor swimming pool. This took place on September 12, 1992.
