Land 1-1-1: The dreaded wastelands

🤼 Overview, odds & stats
No one loves to see this one pop out of a pack. The lowest possible stats on every measure. Your odds of pulling this are 6% or about 1 in 16.
Pop | Fans | People | Wealth | Wealth per† | Avg base demand‡ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
10,000 | 25 | 9,975 | 10 | 0.001 | 113.5 |
† Wealth per city citizen = (Fans + People) / Wealth
‡ Avg base demand = (People * 0.01) + (Fans * 0.55)
Figures derived from information posted in WOO Land: Complete Utility Guide. These may change once the game is live for balancing or other reasons. DYOR!
🤔 Interpretation
Pretty sad stats. The Avg Base Demand means that without upgrades, the average show you'll have here will attract about 113 folks. Hardly worth building a big venue for.
Boosting stats is possible through upgrades, but the Wealth stat limits how many buildings you can build. That poor Wealth stat also means that even if RNG, your organization stats, or the characteristics of the show itself boost up numbers, the attendees won't be spending much.
Amount spent determines the $WOO rewards for show winners and land owner. So not a lot of incentives here on this land.
🕹️ Strategies
1️⃣ Sell it. I feel like this is many folks' first instinct. The current floor is 10 HBD, but who knows what'll happen once the WOO game launches. The idea is to recoup some resources and buy up another pack (or cut your losses). However... the WOO team is known for striving to make every asset valuable... so there may be reason to hodl these crappy lands.
2️⃣ Farm freelance wrestlers. There's been mention of a mechanic where you can earn wrestler NFTs from the game. It involves building a Training Center and upgrading a Scout stat. Strong Fan stats (i.e. 3 stars) are best for this, but depending on how it ends up working there could be a strategy that leverages a bunch of "bad" land to collect many NFTs.
3️⃣ Use it to capture long tail. It stands to reason that there may be situations where the "good" land isn't available for in-game shows or is exhausted or inaccessible for some reason. Having venues that are small may appeal to new or casual players. However, we have to wait and see how the game meta matures before being sure that this is a viable approach.
🏝️ Land characterization
These are the wastelands of WOO. Why are people even living out here? And why are they attending wrestling shows?! Humans are weird.

WOO skews a normal distribution to make high-stat land harder to pull (makes sense, right?) The most common pull is a 6-star land, with 7 different ways the stars could be configured.
