Jade Cardgill, former AEW wrestler, AEW Women's TNT Champion with one of the longest win streaks in AEW history of any wrestler, and one of the inspirations behind WOOREWARDS wrestler Lexi Lawless made her 1st official appearance on WWE programing Saturday, October 5th 2023 at WWE Fastlane. Back stage in the parking area Jade stepped out of a SUV and was greeted personally with a warm welcome by none other than Triple H, one of the leaders in WWE creative.
A few days ago Jade sat down for a virtual interview with TMZSports (which can be seen here. She was asked about how she viewed her options after her AEW contract ended, who she looked forward to getting into the ring with 1st in WWE, and what her mission is now that she’s in the WWE.
(Some of the TMZ questions are paraphrased)
TMZ: Why did you chose to go to the WWE?
JADE: Paul (Triple H), Bruce (Prichard), and Nick (Khan), it just was an easy choice, you know. They made me feel welcome; the entire WWE universe made me feel welcome. I want to create a legacy, you know. I want to have my name in light; I want to be a household name, and the choice was inevitable.
TMZ: When you know when your contract was up you started to look around and see what was available or you know was this the plan the whole time kind of thing?
JADE: This was something that, you know, I've been going back and forth with in my head in the past couple of months. You know, if this is really what I want to do and taking the leap because you never know, you know, in wrestling things can go left, it can go right, and go up and down. And, you know, I just took the time, the time I was home, I took the time to really register and determine what I wanted to do in this industry, and taking the leap was the best thing I could do.
TMZ: Is there 1 person you can’t wait to get into the ring with?
JADE: "I'm excited to work with these ladies; they're phenomenal. You know, they've been working their butts off in the system for years. Give them their flowers; I mean, these are the best women in wrestling in the world. So for me to even share the ring with them is phenomenal. In general, I want them all. I want them all. You can bring on the Rhea Ripley’s as well, you know why? Every single one of them, those matches are gonna put butts in seats; they're gonna sell tickets. I mean, me working with Bianca Belair is going to be a main event match on WrestleMania. I think everybody can say that. I'm just excited to be here and I'm excited to work with such stellar women; that's going to be incredible."
TMZ: We know how your career has gone as a professional wrestler so far, we know how that's been defined. What is your mission? What is your end goal? What do you want to be remembered for for this run that is now officially starting?
JADE: Bet on yourself. Create a legacy for yourself. You know, a lot of people will probably be afraid to make the jump. I made the jump because I wanted to create something for myself, a legacy, a household name. You know, I want my daughter to look at me and just not see her father but look at me and say, 'You know what? My mom did this, and I can do this.' I want her to know that she can do anything and everything that she wants to do as long as she puts her mind to it and works for it. And I want to show these little boys and girls out here that, you know, don't let anyone define you. Go out there and create something for yourself, and if you want it, you can obtain it. Just work, and you've got it."
The wrestling world has been curious to see who she will be facing off against first and if dream matches against Bianca, Charlotte, and Rhea Ripley will be in store for the next coming weeks or if she will find herself sharing a Wrestlemania moment with any of them this year. It would still be understandable if Jade was to work in WWE's developmental brand NXT for a while to get her used to how things work in the WWE and with the bridge of main roster talent and NXT talent being made more fluid now, we may still be able to see some really interesting match ups featuring Jade and other former WWE Women's champions even if she is not on the WWE RAW or WWE Smackdown rosters.
