đź–¤ In Memory of Sabu (Terry Brunk): The Hardcore Icon
Today we got some of the hardest news we’ve ever had to share — one of our partners and a true legend in every sense of the word, Sabu (Terry Brunk), has passed away.
This one hurts. Like bad. This is the first time we’ve ever had to write something like this, and honestly we’re still trying to find the right words that explain how great he was and how much he meant to so many. Sabu wasn’t just part of WOO he was a great man that was kind, professional, generous, humble, and direct. Any of the WOO staff he interacted with could tell you the same.
He wasn’t just another name on the card either. He was a one-of-a-kind. No one even came anywhere close. He was a wild man with tape on his fists and scars covering his body. Those scars all told stories though. Some of those stories he shared with WOO in exclusive interviews and interactions. From ECW’s blood-soaked arenas to the biggest stages around the world, Sabu lived hardcore. His legacy? As we mentioned before it was also written in scars, broken tables, and moments fans will never forget forever engraved in their minds. The man didn’t just take risks — he redefined what risk even looked like in the ring. Who else have you ever seen tape a gash wound to his arm from falling onto barbwire ropes and finish the match?
When you saw Sabu on the card, you knew it was gonna be something special. He was the Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal maniac for a reason. Barbed wire, chairs, tables whatever it took. He made pain into poetry.
We were blessed to have him as part of the WOO family. He joined us for WrestleCon in Philly during WrestleMania 40 weekend, and honestly, it was perfect. That city loved him. And man, that line at our booth? Wrapped around the floor. People flew in from everywhere just to shake his hand, snap a photo, or just say thank you. He sat there for hours, meeting fans, showing love, and repping WOO and Hive like a total pro.
That’s something we’ll never forget.
WOO has always been about honoring the real ones — the gritty, underground legends who made wrestling more than just a show. Sabu was that to the core. He was rebellion. He was chaos. He was a movement. And his fingerprints are all over the wrestling world. Every chair shot. Every jump through a table. Every time a fan chants “ECW!” — that’s Sabu’s spirit still echoing.
He’s gone now, but not really. His legacy will live on — in the game, in the memories, in the stories we tell, and in the love he showed to his fans and this community. We’ll keep repping him in WOO and making sure new generations know who the real ones were.
Rest easy, Sabu. Thank you for everything. You’ll always be one of the greats.
