Are you a modern slave?
How much I love this song. We all could be slaves to something do you know?
Slavery to fears, we all have deep-seated fears and sometimes we are just too afraid to face it.
Fear of the unknown, fear of trying, fear of failure and so many kinds of fears.
As for the fear of failure, we must be aware that if we do not try we might not even the outcome.
The fear of the unknown is still something we should face, life is full of mystery, and nobody knows what tomorrow holds, so just go with an open mind, and be prepared to face each day as it comes.
Some people are in physical chains but we too could be in mental or emotional chains.
Whatever is holding us back from being who we are is like our own prison. It's not all about the physical most times, it's our mindset that can enslave you.
Fear is something that limits us and the potential we have in us, if we could see how great we are inside then we wouldn't let the fear stop us from roaring and soaring.
I remember when I first learned how to sew, I was too afraid to try new styles that were in vogue and I kept making excuses for not trying them but one day, I looked myself in the mirror and said today I will face it!
I picked up the fabrics and did my thing and I was wowed by the outcome. I mean I never knew I had so much in me.
From that moment on, I decided to liberate myself from any kind of fear.
If we don't take a shot, we might not know the outcome and it's important not to make life make you a coward, face it and face it.
This song is also a reminder that we all have flaws, we all are imperfect and we sin only in different ways.
I love the part where she says "Let he who is without sin be the first to cast the stone."
If you are not without sin, point a finger at someone that all your life you've not made poor decisions before, or you haven't done anything bad ever since you were birthed.
What we do after our sins is what matters the most.
So rather than focusing on someone's weakness, I'd rather work on my flaws than point a finger at another and that's the beauty of becoming a better person.
Some songs just lift you and make you stronger, this is one of those songs, I love to listen to at my lowest, how much I love Asa's song.
The key is to focus on my journey and pray I don't fall along the line because truly nobody knows tomorrow and even if I fall, I hope I get up stronger and wiser rather than let fear dwindle my hope and diminish my strength, I will face it.
