knock knock...
{silence}
KNOCK KNOCK...
{silence}
Maybe you ask yourself: "Why are you Knocking?"

It's more like someone knocking my 'door': Again! Apparently, I didn't respond to an earlier invite by one of the 'players' in a challenge that can't be called a real challenge, named "Spread the Vibes". It was a post (link) responding to my own one about Nils Frahm (link).
How inconsiderate and rude of me!
Now, a second time, I'm summoned to respond and I felt I couldn't just ignore this another time. Not that I deliberately ignored the earlier invite, but I didn't respond, did I? And whatever excuse I was giving before, at some point it's all about setting priorities.
Interlude: Wow, I really have to tell you this. After not writing a post for the last two months, I feel soooo rusty! It took me a few hours this morning to even dare to start writing. The intention was to create a funny post, with some nice insights and music. But foremost I wanted to write a post that is a pleasant read. And hopefully also a post that makes you hit the play buttons in this and the other linked posts. However, I feel am already failing miserably ๐
Did you skip the 'Interlude'?
GREAT if you did! Ignore it please... ๐
My Reaction
First of all, I feel so honoured the inspiration for MiPiano's Spread the Vibes thingy (post) came from an 'old' post by my alter ego @qsounds, one from years ago. Secondly, am even more thrilled she selected an artist who makes absolute exquisite music. To the selection itself, I'll be repeating myself when I respond: You can read what I think of the Async album here. In case you take the time to listen to the album, I urge you to not only listen to the first track but keep the album playing. The experimental part starts at number two. Goosebumps time. Or?
Now, am again rude! Talking about the original album and performance and not about the performance and post by MiPiano! Seriously Edje? WTF are you doing?
Deep Deep Bow for MiPiano!
What an effort she made to not only write some wonderful words about the original artist Ryuichi Sakamoto, but all the time she spend learning to play a piece from Ryuichi's repertoire. I don't know the original. And though I was tempted to search for it, I didn't do so for the simple reason I didn't want to get distracted when listening to the more than 4 minutes recording.
I was touched: That's for sure! Listened multiple times by now and can advise you to do the same. Please don't just use your PC/Laptop speakers, or phone speakers, or phone ear thingies, but real headphones, or your HIFI system. This recording deserves some quality music equipment.
My Selection
When I felt I needed to respond to the invite to play the 'Spread the Vibes' challenge, I kinda immediately knew what music I wanted to include as well as the little story I wanted to write. Then, this morning I opened my iMovie software to try and transform some takes into a kinda decent video, I discovered a little project I worked on before with the title '1st'. That pulled the rug from under me! Either I'll have to bin that project or find some other music (and story) for this post. For various reasons, I decided on the latter. Since the original story, I had in mind is time-related, I'll have to write and publish that one soon-ish. And before that one, I'll have to finish my '1st' project and share it with you. All to keep the order as it should be. By this decision, it is guaranteed that the KNOCKING my door, will result in at least a more active edje wrt HIVE: three posts to be done in a relatively short period of time. Let's see if I can hold to my words here. When not: please do something to make sure I stick to my plan and 'promises'. But you don't have to, all up to you ๐
...and to you MiPiano: You'll getting a response the your earlier invite as well ๐
darn
...thats a lot of blahblahblah... Music! Where is the Music?
well
...down here {pointing my fingers downwards}
In a very short sentence: I simply LOVE the sound of CIO D'Or! An artist I discovered a year or two ago. Never heard her play in a club or at a festival, but want to sooo much. Almost stalked my best friend who is an artist booker and manager to take her into her agency (I just want her to handle only artists I like ๐๐๐), but failed so far.
I love her deep sound. I love her minimal sound. I love the subtleties, the drive, the... I love it all. Goosebumps every time I listen to this recording. To be honest, I thought I posted this one before, but fortunately, I didn't. Otherwise, I would've had another problem to solve for this post. When you like what you hear, you may like to check this post/music and this one as well.
On her own website she has some statements that classify her work, her mind towards music, and resonates with me a lot. These are just the general ones. When browsing to her website you'll find a ton of messages to give you more than a little peak inside her (musical) mind.
- Silence is the origin of my music.
- I like hypnotic techno, it gives people this sense of endlessness.
- I want to hear 'soul' and 'deepness' and 'melancholy' and 'truth' on vinyl and in my own music productions and mixes.
Isn't it nice to know a little more about the music, than the music itself?
Your Participation?
Obviously, nothing is mandatory in the "Spread the Vibes: Challenge Not Challenge", but I would like for any of you to pick it up from here. In recent curation rounds, I came across a few music fans and artists in our community I specifically like to invite. In no particular order, these are: @djjamesblack a HIVE newbie and artist/DJ from the UK @grizzle with an amazing record collection @wwwiebe with a super cool old record player and a collection of records from the early 1900s @dmilliz the founding father of ReggaeJAHM community and token, @bengy our own travelling classical musician and of course circling this one back to @mipiano our piano power lady you all know.
It's All Very Simply
This challenge has no rules, just a few guidelines you may like to follow. The essence is to write something about and/or around music. Maybe you like to write a response to the music shared in this post. This can be anything, whatever you feel like sharing. Subsequently, add your own selection of music. It's highly appreciated if you add a little story as well. Again this can be anything. To make sure this Spread the Vibes is doing what it says it should do: invite some users in your post. In case you like to get a bit more structured explanation of the why's and how's of this challenge not challenge, you may check this post.
It would be very very useful to include the following tags in the tag section of your post: #spreadthevibes #music
For inspiration, browse the #spreadthevibes tag. Select 'Recent' for a complete list in chronological order. Thus far many of these 'Spread the Vibes' posts are listed there.
