Numbers you're saying?
I like numbers.
Numbers are cool.
I can throw numbers right and left!

See what I did here? See? It has started... and there is no stopping me now (year 1979) ;)
Oh this is gonna be a long post. I was forced though so you know who to blame.
Let's go to the beginning though.
I was nominated by @mipiano for the third time and since I have used up all my excuses, the time has come. As I started to read her post the number she kept repeating begun to rattle in my head. I opened my playlists and started to scroll... looking for numbers. I am probably doing all the wrong way, but that 3 number got so stuck in my head that it was all I could think of. I shut down all other possibilities and ideas that quietly tried to born.
Nope.. not gonna happen buddies.
We are going to do some murdering counting today!
Booya!
The Police "Murder by numbers" and let the game begin!
year 1983
A little story I remember from the time I was studying... I was complaining to my big bro about some math or statistics stuff I had to learn and then pass on the exam. Generally: "everything is stupid and I won't even need it"
Him being older, wiser and a bit drunk, listened to what I had to say, looked at me, shook his head and all he said was: "Ewa, math is life" (or something of this sort).
Then tuned around and walked away 😂.
Yea...
Number 1:
U2 "One"
year 1992
There can be only ONE even though there is more than one ONE, but One is still just one.
Actually... this one is not really just ONE either, but THREE (damn that number is gonna haunt me forever). Are you guys lost yet? :)
Let me explain: this song has 3 clips recorded. Why? (because they can, duh!) Because one was probably a bit controversial, one was too boring and no good, and the last one was finally acceptable I guess and became the official one. You have those other two sneakily linked.
Which one I picked here? The controversial one of course :)
And not so long ago I was mentioning in a comment that I was learning English translating U2 song. This was one of them.
Number 2:
Blur "Song 2"
year 1997
I could play another U2 here, but diversity is the key :).
I actually didn't know this song was this old. Long long time ago I used to bother my neighbors with it quite a lot. Working 6 days a week and you just have to put something like that on.
Very loud.
Must be my favourite Blur's song too (2 ha!). Pity it's so short.
Number 3:
US3 "Tukka Yoots Riddim"
year 1993
Oh boy so many 3's!
There is something weird about this band. I tend to forget about it. Sometimes for years. And then I put the album with this song on and I wonder how could I not listen to it for so long. I play it for a few days and then forget again. 🤷♀
This is one of those that just makes your whole body wanna jump.
And to me it just means summer. When we would listen to it in the garden not caring about anything.
Number 4:
Vivaldi "The Four Seasons - Winter"
1725
by David Garrett
Classic, so it has to be included and it just fits perfectly for number 4.
If I didn't learn to play piano, I would probably pick violins. There is so much sorrow in them...
Plus they are portable ;)
And Vivaldi, well, the guy just doesn't get old! If he lived now he would have a post rock band. I am telling ya!
Number 5:
MIUOSH x JIMEK x NOSPR "Piąta strona świata"
year 2015 (original version 2011)
Oh yess... nothing like mixing up. We will keep the violins from number 4, add some Polish Rap to it, kids choir, shake well and play!
I was never into rap or hip hop, but things change when you find the right tune.
Miuosh is a Polish rapper I have never heard of until my bro (not the smartass one, another one) started to play it. But not the regular versions though. The guy teamed up with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and created something quite unexpected. He mixed up multiple songs this way they are pretty damn good!
This discovery will lead us to number 8 as well.
And I think I should probably explain that the title means "Fifth side of the world". The album where the original song comes from has the same title and it was taken from a book written by Polish movie director Kazimierz Kutz. It is all about the Katowice area and the people that lived there. So is the song.
They both, Miuosh and Kazimierz, come from there.
Number 6:
George Michael "Spinning the wheel"
year 1996
Have to appreciate a nice, black and white video, not necessarily at 6 o'clock in the morning. No, I did not forget the number. Listen to the song.
The whole album is so relaxing, that I often end up on it later at night. It would be very fitting to be the last song of the day. But no, we will finish it with a bang!
Number 7:
Sting "Seven days"
year 1993
Does this sound familiar to you @mipiano?
"Monday, I could wait 'til Tuesday" - yes I will post on Tuesday, I am busy today..
"If I make up my mind" - ...but I don't know what to post, I have to think a bit more. I have 30 days. I will make it!
"Wednesday would be fine" - think I got it! Tomorrow I promise.
"Thursday's on my mind" - Shit.. did I say tomorrow?
"Friday'd give me time" - Oh man... it's already 14th?
"Saturday could wait" - I got it! I am writing it as we speak!
"But Sunday'd be too late" - I was supposed to post on Thursday? Dammit....
Look, look! I did it 😄
Number 8:
Taco Hemingway "Polskie Tango"
year 2020
There is a hidden number 8 in the song. Polish people will understand what the eight stars mean in the end of the clip.
Despite being political and very critical it is quite spot on. Someone had enough of the shit I guess. 👊
The fact that includes old images and clips make it even better and those of you that grew up in 80's and 90's will find it all very familiar.
A very speedy 3 minute lesson.
Sad, but true.
@rozku kiedyś dawno temu prosiłaś (o ile dobrze pamiętam) o jakieś utwory o Polsce, lub przypominające o niej ludziom na obczyźnie. Masz tu dwa: ogólny i regionalny. Do wyboru do koloru :)
I żeby nie było ta część będzie po Polsku, bo potem jakaś jędza z kotem w awatarze może się czepiać, że używam polskich tagów nie tak jak trzeba :p.
Okay, I think I am done.
Number 9 doesn't exist on my playlist :p I can't even recall any specific lyrics that would mention nine. Such insignificant number (3*3 hahaha)
Last but not least let me nominate some folks here if they feel like joining:
- @bulldog-joy - yes we know.. Bruce ;)
- @buffalobison
- @ablaze
Now I shall put my headphones on and listen to it all all over again.
