Despite the absolutely oppressive heat which is becoming more common for our region of the world, this is one of my favorite times of year. Mostly because the farmers markets are in full swing and some of my favorite crops are finally ready for harvesting. Most specifically corn. If you have never had fresh sweet corn from a local farmer you just aren't living. It's almost like candy.
The problem is, if it isn't quite ready, or it is a little too ripe, it can be a huge let down. This is going to get a bit gross, but in case you haven't noticed, people just don't digest corn well. I have a pretty sensitive stomach anyway, so corn is always a bit of a crap shoot (pun intended). Whenever @mrsbozz and I buy corn, one of us always asks the question, "was it worth it". Was the corn good enough that it made the stomach pain worth it? Sometimes the answer is yes (especially this time of year), sometimes it's no.

Oddly enough, I find myself asking the same thing about a lot of other things lately. Believe it not, HIVE isn't exempt from that list. I'll be doing a power up for #HPUD a little later today, but somewhere in the back of my mind I often wonder if all the time and energy I put into posting, commenting, and voting on this platform is worth it.
Will it be worth it one day?
The hope is yes of course, but nobody really knows what is going to happen for sure. We've seen the price swing from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs and each day we are still here plugging along. My original dream for HIVE was to buy myself a new (used) truck. That plan is long in the rearview mirror, but at some point I do hope I can pull some monetary value from here.
Intrinsic value aside, this is a platform where you can get paid to create content, so at the very least it would be nice to earn enough to take @mrsbozz on a trip. At best I'd love to add another source of stable passive income to my ledger.
Will that happen or will I find myself asking if it was worth it?

You might remember a while ago I participated in a charity silent auction where I got a basket that included this bottle of whiskey. I ended up paying $150 USD for the basket mainly because I was interested in the whiskey. Yes, it came with a bunch of other stuff, but the main reason I bid was for this.
Was it worth it?
I finally opened the bottle this past weekend and while it isn't my favorite, it is quite good. As you can see, it has a pretty high proof at 113.8. Based on the whiskey alone, I'd probably say $150 was a high price to pay. It is a good rye with a nice amount of spice, but thankfully I also got some really good gift cards in the basket that did make it worth it.
In the end it was all for charity anyway, so does it really matter?
Travala
For a while now the platform that allows you to pay for travel with crypto Travala has been doing a quarterly airdrop of tokens when you complete a handful of specific tasks. This was supposed to be a rewards system that paid you simply for staking their token, but at some point they decided to throw in some hoops for you to jump through. I'm still a bit salty about that as it feels like it was a bit of "bait and switch", but it is what it is.
For the most part, the tasks aren't that difficult and just involve you posting or reposting something on X. For this quarter I was only able to complete about 8 of the 10 tasks, but I was still able to get about 96 tokens from the drop. That's not great, but not horrible either. If the price of the token jumps back up to the $2 or $3 mark, that's suddenly a night at a hotel.
Again, I find myself asking, was it worth it? In this case yes, I think it was. Travala has been around for a while now and it appears there isn't a ton of competition yet. I think they still have a lot of room for growth and once crypto really hits the mainstream, they might be positioned in a really good place. Earning all the AVA tokens I can now might serve me well down the road.
Altseason
Is it coming? Is it here? WTF is going on? It's been a long wait these past four years or so. I honestly don't know what is going to happen, but it's easy to find ourselves wondering if the wait was worth it. I've still got some tokens I am hoping will pop off. I recently put a portion of my VET token into their new platform called "Stargate". I've gotta admit, I am a fan of the name as much as I am a fan of that franchise.
At the level I was able to stake, I am only getting about 2% interest on my tokens. Pretty horrible right? It's better than nothing and who knows, in time maybe it will have totally been worth it. VeChain is another one of those projects that actually has a use case and while there is some competition, it is currently being used by some major players right now.
Kinross Gold
I got an alert the other day that my KGC shares had an earnings per share of $.44 this past quarter which was an increase over the estimated $.32 per share they were expecting. Thanks again to whoever it was in the #silvergoldstackers community that turned me on to this stock. I appreciate it!
