For being a traveler in the past few years, I was wondering why I never sketch while traveling. I realized my priority was different back then. I was busy learning new skills along the way. I was into backpacking, I could not afford to buy and bring art materials with me. But I was into photography and travel blogging. I was busy documenting my travel life on social media.
It's just this year I started collecting art materials. Colored pens, Stabilo pens, Black fine-liner pens, paintbrushes, and gouache paint. Thanks to Hive, I have money to buy the things I want and to get back to my first love which is drawing.
The View
We went to the French Alps last February for our winter ski holiday. Outside of our chalet, there were several good views to see. I was really observant so this view caught my eye.
This is the neighbor's house with a nice French Alps backdrop view.
I was just taking photos around, a wider view.
This is the view from our chalet, outside of the house we were having a picnic.

The Sketch
I was very excited I took out my black point pen and this is the result of the rough sketch.
The view
Let's take a clearer view.
I was excited to color.
I didn't bring my gouache paint, I will just use the colored pens I have.
It's time to color
I am not really a good pen colorist so I just played around the colors. But I love the vibrance.
This is the final but rough sketch. There is nothing to add about this but I really had fun.
Voila! Travel sketching feels like a fairytale. It was the first time I felt this with my drawing.
This is something I want to do. As a mom, a mother of two, I just want to slow down. Stay relax. Enjoy the view. Feel the breeze of fresh air. I felt so satisfied when it was done. We enjoyed our picnic outside.
