Well, ever since I got this laptop with Lego Digital Designer (LDD) installed on it, I thought I would just build and play a couple of models and then forget about it. But the opposite has happened; every time I sit in my mother's dining room and look at the old laptop there, I feel a terrible urge to turn it on and play with LEGO... And believe me... I'm not going to hold back the urge! ;)
Bien, desde que conseguí esta laptop con Lego Digital Designer (LDD) instalado en ella, pensé que me dedicaría a armar y reproducir un par de modelos y después lo olvidaría. Pero resulta que ha sucedido todo lo contrario; cada vez que me siento en el comedor de mi madre y observo la vieja laptop allí, siento un impulso terrible por encenderla y dedicarme a jugar con LEGO... Y creánme... ¡No pienso aguantarme las ganas!. ;)
The LEGO SET 391 was never among those I was able to own as a child. To tell the truth, I saw it several times in toy shops, but I never asked to buy it because it seemed to me "A little classic car with a weird design"... I guess I was more used to cars with a flat front grill and a radiator, which this old Renault model didn't seem to have!
El SET 391 LEGO nunca estuvo entre aquellos que pude tener cuando niño. A decir verdad, lo aprecié varias veces en las tiendas de juguetes, pero nunca pedí que me lo compraran porque me parecía "Un pequeño auto clásico con un raro diseño"... ¡Supongo que estaba yo más acostumbrado a los autos con parrilla frontal plana y con radiador, cosa la cual este viejo modelo Renault parecía no tener!.
But having found the instructions to assemble this model, I was tempted to spend several hours on it and to reproduce it in its digital version... Besides, now at 52 years of age, I found its design absolutely charming! ;)
Pero habiendo encontrado las instrucciones para ensamblar este modelo, me vi tentado a dedicar varias horas en el y reproducirlo en su versión digital... ¡Además, ahora a mis 52 años de edad, me ha parecido absolutamente encantador su diseño! ;)
As it usually happens with very old sets (this one was released in 1975) some of its parts are not in the LDD catalogue and because of this I have to find solutions which do not affect too much the original look of the model. This is especially difficult when it comes to fitting tyres, as the ones for classic car models are nowhere to be found in LDD and I have had to make do with using ones which seem to be for horse-drawn carts... But they are still a good solution even though they are only available in black!
Como suele suceder con los sets muy viejos (este fue lanzado al mercado en 1975) algunas de sus piezas no están en el catálogo de LDD y debdo a esto tengo que ingeniármelas para encontrar soluciones las cuales no afecten demasiado el aspecto original del modelo. Esto es especialmente complicado a la hora de colocar los neumáticos, pues los de los modelos de autos clásicos no aparecen por ningún lado en LDD y he tenido que arreglármelas usando otros los cuales parecen ser para carretas tiradas por caballos... ¡Pero siguen siendo una buena solución a pesar de estar disponibles solo en color negro!.
I've learned to create screenshots of the assembly sequence, and even save them in PDF and HTML format, which is fun to do in addition to the assembly itself. :)
He aprendido a crear capturas de la secuencia de armado, e incluso a guardarlas en formato PDF y HTML, eso es algo divertido de hacer además del ensamblado en sí mismo. :)
Also in LDD there are options to select the pieces discriminating by colours and even to move them within the assembly space and thus to be able to observe the structure of the model in such an interesting way as in the image above.
También en LDD existen opciones para seleccionar las piezas discriminando por colores e incluso mover estas dentro del espacio de armado y así poder observar la estructura del modelo de forma tan interesante como en la imagen superior.
I spent about 4 hours on the assembly process. I find that with each model I assemble, my skills and speed improve. For this model I also wanted to add some "personal touches" such as curved and smooth body and wing parts, seat headrests, number plate and starter lever, and.... a nice little driver! ;)
Invertí unas 4 horas en el proceso de ensamblaje. Me parece que con cada modelo que ensamblo, mis habilidades y mi velocidad mejoran. Para este modelo también quise agregar algunos "toques personales" como piezas lizas en la carrocería y guardabarros, apoya cabezas en los asientos, matrícula y palanca de arranque y... ¡un pequeño y simpático conductor!. ;)
The situation at home seems to have normalised... I was able to assemble this model while my mother, wife, sisters and brothers-in-law passed in front of me and this time none of them were "amazed because I'm playing with LEGO"... Good heavens, I'm glad that's the case! :))
La situación en casa parece haberse normalizado... Pude armar este modelo mientras mi madre, mi esposa, mis hermanas y cuñados pasaban por en frente de mi y esta vez ninguno se ha dedicado a "asombrarse porque estoy jugando con LEGO"... ¡Santos cielos, me alegra que así sea! :))
I have loved completing this 1926 Renault classic car model, so I will continue to look for more instructions to assemble new models and share these with you. But also, I've been looking at a lot of parts on LDD which seem to be specific to assembling model cars, so very soon I hope to experiment with a new design born directly from my imagination.
Me ha encantado completar este modelo auto clásico Renault 1926, así que continuaré buscando más instrucciones para ensamblar nuevos modelos y compartir estos con ustedes. Pero además, he estado observando un montón de piezas en LDD las cuales parecen ser específicas para ensamblar modelos de automóviles, así que muy pronto espero experimentar con un nuevo diseño nacido directamente de mi imaginación.
