World's most powerful tidal turbine

This is the most powerful tidal turbine in the world, it is called O2, its propellers extract energy in a similar way to how it is energy from the current of a river but in this case it is marine currents.

It is anchored in the waters of the Orkney Islands belonging to the United Kingdom, the turbine weighs 680 tons, has a nominal power of 2 megawatts, which would be enough to supply energy to two thousand typical British homes.

The Scottish company that created it is Orbital Marine Power’s, it hopes that this turbine can operate without problems for at least 15 years.
