Spring's last whispers are echoing through the central Apennines in Italy. The vibrant magic that burst forth just last week is slowly fading, hinting at what promises to be a scorching summer. Even with over a month until the hot season truly settles in, nature's brilliant, lively hues are already starting to dim. It's an almost melancholic shift, much like the transition from late autumn to winter, when the dry leaves on the trees seem to cry defeat, surrendering to the cold's embrace.
From a photographic perspective, my journey certainly doesn't end here; opportunities will abound. Yet, every year, this period feels like it rushes by far too quickly. You barely have time to get used to it before you're left with the feeling of having missed something, of having put it off until some hypothetical "tomorrow" due to laziness or who knows what. And then it all comes back to haunt you, reproaching you for not making the most of such a unique and magical time.
Anyway, the meadows are still bursting with flowers. The orchids have mostly faded, while the narcissi are shyly peeking out with their white petals. I have a feeling they won't have an easy time in the coming days, especially with the rain and strong winds that often batter this area.
