A few weeks to go and Christmas is finally here! I am always very much excited for this season because it just reminds me of happiness, sharing and spreading positive vibes to everyone.
Hi there, wholesome reader!
I am here to share with you a delightful night I got to experience today. Allow me to narrate my afternoon-to-night moments in this post.
Every year, the City of Naga, the neighboring city of ours here in Cebu, celebrates its Annual Festival of Lights every December. This festival is also known as the Dagitab Festival. Dagitab is the Bisaya translation of electricity as this city is home to two electric power sources namely KEPCO and Therma Power Visayas. The festival starts with its official lighting ceremonies which is simultaneous with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and falls on every 8th of December.
It was a spontaneous decision to watch this year's lighting ceremonies. Since my father, a government employee in this city, is required to attend this program, we went together to the plaza. We arrived earlier than the event proper so we strolled around for a while. A few minutes later, rain poured so we looked for a place we can shelter in.
While the rain continued to pour, we went inside my father’s office and stayed there while waiting for the rain to go away. At the entrance of the City Hall, you will be greeted with these cute Christmas decorations. I can't resist but pose and asked my father to take a photo of me.
We went out of the City Hall at around 6pm since the lighting ceremony was about to start. The whole plaza was dark and the only lights are those from vendors selling lighted balloons. The stage was also lit up, in preparation for the little program and countdown.
Before the lighting, there was a short program on the stage. The local government officials gave their speeches. They also showcased their beneficiaries for this year’s gift giving program of the city. Right after the short program, the people who were waiting hyped up and gave out screams of excitement. And then, the countdown took place and at "1", all the lights lit up and the place looked very dreamy.
After the lighting, our stomachs rumbled, reminding us that we have not eaten dinner yet. We initially thought of eating at the foodcourt but omg, all the people were flocking there. So, we ate at Cookout instead. Usually, I'd order their spicy ribs but for a change, I ordered their pork katsu while my father had burger steak.
After filling our stomachs, it's time for more strolling around the plaza and boardwalk. A lot, as in a lot lot, of people were here tonight to see the lights. For this year, the theme of their decorations is Christmas around the world.
Overall, I was very happy tonight. The inner child in me enjoyed so much of these lights. I can really feel the spirit of Christmas and, indeed, I am very excited for the upcoming holidays.
That's all for this post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and looking at the photos!
