Gateway to another world!
For most of the day I have actually been looking after my granddaughter while her parents work. This is fine occasionally but I also have needs and I managed to find the time for a short cycle ride this evening.
So, out through Goffs Park on my way to Tilgate Park. A pleasant route taking in two parks which avoids a lot of roads which is my main aim.
On arrival at Tilgate I chose a route that I had not cycled for a few years. This turned out to be an interesting one. I came across a new fence blocking my way! I followed this fence which bisected several well trodden paths.
At the end of the fence there were new gate posts in place and a sign on the tree saying 'keep out private property ' ! Very odd!
Naturally I took the path anyway as I was curious to find out why the fence was there.
Eventually I came across another new fence and a notice. This explained everything. The land had been sold off by the council! 😱
I'm sure many people will be upset about this and the evidence is already to be found. Some of the fence posts have already been knocked down!
This popular park is gradually being closed off to the public. Not good.
I passed the main lake on my way back, always a nice spot to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet.
