If you're wondering what happened to Sunday's report, well, I guess I must have been so tired from my 37257 steps that I forgot to post my report. Costly mistake, too, since that was my highest step count for a day all year.
I amassed quite a healthy step count before the sun came up on Sunday because I was out at Elsewhere for Hamdi playing down in the Hall. He spun a great set packed with original bops like "Push," and plenty of classic dubstep. I worked up quite a sweat dancing to one of my favorite genres of EDM.
I hustled home at the end of the night since I had to be up early for a morning with mom. I was up and out the door by 11.30am for brunch reservations in Chelsea. I got a delicious order of chicken liver mousse and a soft scramble of eggs with roasted broccoli. All around fantastic meal!
After brunch, we took a quick walk down to The Whitney Museum for its Biennial art exhibition. Here's a handful of pieces that caught my eye:
The last work of art was the most impressive. Made of acrylic paint without using a canvas, the artist instead poured the paint over other waste like plastic mesh and shopping bags to hold its form. The rather graphic multi-canvas arrangement also left quite an impression, depicting the artist's struggle with their brutal abortion procedure.
After The Whitney, we strolled along The Highline back up to 14th Street. The Highline is a stretch of abandoned elevated subway rails that got redeveloped as a green walkway. It is now a bustling success with gorgeous foliage along a scenic elevated path.
After saying my goodbyes, I hustled back home to my apartment in Brooklyn for a quick outfit change before heading back out to The Brooklyn Mirage for one more dance before my partner returned in the morning.
It was the season premier of Hot Honey Sundays and they rented out the biggest club venue in NYC for the event. As luck would have it, I ran into a friend at the club who reminded me of a mutual who was celebrating their birthday Sunday night.
Plans were made and I met up with him at 10pm to leave the club and head over to the birthday party. It was nice catching up with friends at the birthday party. The DJ even played some dubstep for us!
The birthday party ran until 2am, and we spent the last 30 minutes or so helping the birthday girl tidy up the venue. A good time was had by all, and the hummingbird cake was delicious.
Instead of rushing to include Monday in this report, I'll join that with Tuesday. Just know that I'm still sad about missing out on my 37000-step day and these 11K steps are from Monday the 27th. We'll get it sorted. Until next time...
