Hi my loving Actifiters,
I got the opportunity to connect with this beautiful community again with another beautiful walk. Today, which was a holiday, I got the opportunity to visit the Gonadeniya area of Udugama after about 2 months. The special thing is that this trip involved my eldest daughter. My daughter also likes to join in on trips. She mostly likes to walk in natural areas. So, through this trip, I got the opportunity to walk 7000 steps. It was a good exercise for the body.
After passing the Udugama Bar Junction, I stopped the scooter at my mother-in-law's house in Gonadeni and walked on foot because I could stop and see the surroundings well. I came to the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Branch to buy organic fertilizer to increase the yield of my garden. I actually got the opportunity to get organic fertilizer at a very low price. There were plenty of chilli and eggplant plants here, and a few fruit plants were also on sale. Since it was morning, the village youth did not come to the stadium, so it was empty.
Then we got to see the peaceful Gonadeni Temple. Since my daughter was interested in going to the temple, I took her to the temple grounds. Since it was a Thursday morning, the temple was empty without any devotees. I had seen a large crowd gather on a festival occasion because it is a temple located in a village. Since this temple is located on a small hill in the middle of a tea garden, the surrounding environment is beautiful.
As we continued further past the temple, we saw Godapara plants that grow well in muddy environments. The fruits of this plant, which are best for hair-related diseases, are not found in my area. But these were widely spread around the paddy fields of Gonadeni village. Their flowers are yellow and add to the charming view.
When you open your eyes to the entire village, you can see beautiful nature from every angle. These days, no paddy cultivation is seen in Gonadeni village, and the paddy fields have become fallow. The lack of paddy cultivation in Gonadeni village during this period when paddy cultivation is carried out throughout Sri Lanka is a problematic situation. Perhaps there are several reasons for this. It is a wrong policy to come to a conclusion without considering any reasons, so let's leave them to time.
In the truest sense of the word, Gonadeni is a very beautiful village. The beauty here has diminished a little due to the widening of the roads. As it gradually becomes urbanized, there may be a chance for this village to become a city in the future. But I hope that doesn't happen because the authenticity and humanity of the people here could fade.
