To the non-lifter everyone just had a shoulder, and a shoulder is just a part of the body. But to the real lifter the shoulder is divided into three: posterior, anterior, and side. The real lifter can hardly ever look at the shoulder as just one part of the body, but as a trinity.
There's hardly any exercise that hits all three parts of the shoulder at the same time, and even if there were exercises like that the lifter can't feel really satisfied until he has done exercises specifically for each of those three parts mentioned earlier.
