¡Annyeonghaseyo, (hola) gente de intenert! Hoy quisiera hablarles sobre los Idols, los interpretes del Kpop, género musical que cada vez ha ido creciendo más y tomando relevancia fuera de su natal Corea del sur.

Todo inicia por las empresas de entretenimiento, estas compañías (desde las más pequeñas a las más grandes) anualmente hacen una o más audiciones para encontrar nuevos «Trainee» que a su vez terminen debutando como «Idols»
It all starts with entertainment companies, these companies (from the smallest to the largest) annually make one or more auditions to find new "Trainee" who in turn end up debuting as "Idols"

Usualmente, determinada compañía hace sus publicaciones sobre sus audiciones con las pautas a seguir, por ejemplo: «SM Entretaiment te invita este martes 6 de junio a participar en sus audiciones. Envíanos a nuestro correo un video introductorio, diciendo tu nombre completo, edad y tu talento, posteriormente canta alguna canción de 1 minuto de duración y un video bailando con la misma duración. ¡Anímate! ¡Tú también puedes ser Idol!»
Unusually, a company publishes its publications about its auditions with the guidelines to follow, for example: «SM Entretaiment invites you this Tuesday June 6 to participate in its auditions. Send us an introductory video by email ,saying your full name, age and your talent, then sing a song of 1 minute long and a video dancing with the same duration. Cheer up! You too can be an Idol! »
Supongamos que te apuntas a las audiciones, enviando tu video y quedas entre los preseleccionados. La empresa te enviará un correo electrónico comunicándotelo, citándote a las selecciones en sus instalaciones.

Una vez en tu audición, serás juzgado desde que estás haciendo la fila para la entrevista con el jurado (directivos de la empresa y a veces Idols de la misma compañía) Calificarán tu desenvoltura, modales y seguridad en tu actitud.

Once they call you for the interview, they will ask you questions of rigor: What is your name? What is your strong talent? Besides singing, do you dance, model, act? They will evaluate how you develop because, as an Idol, they will do many interviews with you, therefore seeing how you answer simple questions will give them a vision of how you would do it in those situations. By giving them an answer of your other talents, they will also know how much work it will take you to debut.
Posteriormente te pedirán que cantes para ellos, una vez que termines, te pedirán bailar. Es la parte que intimida a muchas personas ya que, mientras que la canción que cantes es a tu elección, la que pondrán los encargados del sonido en la audición es al azar, y deberás improvisar pasos de baile. Dependiendo de que tan bien lo hagas, el jurado sabrá si serás bueno para coreografiar más adelante, si solo eres bueno para aprender coreografías, o si no das la talla.
Later they will ask you to sing for them, once you finish they will ask you to dance. It is the part that intimidates a lot of people because, although the song you sing is your choice, the one that the sound managers will play at the audition is random and you will have to improvise dance steps. Depending on the number of applicants auditioned for, or how strong they are, the company could do one or two more rounds, sometimes making matches between participants to mix potential and compare, to rule out.
Pasaste todas las rondas y entrarás como Trainee a la compañía. Esta elaborará un contrato con las especificaciones del trabajo.
You passed all the rounds and you will enter the company as a Trainee. This will prepare a contract with the specifications of the job.
Para ser Idol, se requiere hacer un entrenamiento previo cuya duración es a criterio de la empresa, según las habilidades y el crecimiento de los Trainee en su aprendizaje. Todas las compañías costean los gatos del entrenamiento, algunas otras también corren con los gastos de hospedaje y comida de sus Trainee.
To be an Idol, it's required to do a previous training whose duration is at the discretion of the company according to the skills and growth of the Trainee in their learning. All companies pay for the training cats, some others also cover the costs of lodging and food for their Trainees.
El aprendizaje básico consta de clases de canto, baile, música, modales, maquillaje, moda y peinados (con el fin de que sepan como arreglarse en casa para nunca salir a la calle desarreglados en sus vacaciones, es decir, cuando el equipo de la empresa no está disponibles para los Idols). Otras compañías también preparan a los aprendices en conducción de programas de Tv, modelaje, actuación, oratoria, idiomas, producción etc. Las compañías más grandes usualmente tienen este pensum pero lo van ampliando a medida que ven buen rendimiento en sus Trainne o incluso le ofrecen los cursos a Idols para que aprendan una nueva rama del entretenimiento.
The basic learning consists of classes in singing, dancing, music, manners, makeup, fashion and hairstyles (in order that they know how to get ready at home to never go out on the streets being untidy while they are on vacation, that is, when the company team is not available to idols). Other companies also prepare trainees in conducting TV shows, modeling, acting, public speaking, languages, production etc. The larger companies usually have this curriculum but they expand it as they see good performance in their Trainne or even offer the courses to Idols to learn a new part of entertainment.
Anteriormente, los Trainee tenían que pagarle a la empresa el costo de su aprendizaje, es por eso que luego de debutar cobraban un muy pequeño porcentaje o nada de lo que generaran hasta saldar esa deuda. En los contratos nuevos (ya siendo Idols) las compañías llegaban a un acuerdo con el nuevo Idol, exponiendo a cuanto ascendía la deuda, cuanto cobraría la compañía, cuanto cobrarían ellos y la fecha en la que quedaba saldada la deuda.
Previously, the Trainees had to pay the company the cost of their apprenticeship, that is why after debuting they charged a very small percentage or nothing of what they generated until they paid off that debt. In the new contracts (already being Idols) the companies reached an agreement with the new Idol, exposing how much the debt amounted, how much the company would charge, how much the Idol would charge and the date on which the debt was paid.
Actualmente ya los Trainee no tienen que pagar sus estudios (a menos que se retire por convicción propia mientras es un aprendiz) pero sí deben (a parte de cumplir con sus horarios con la empresa) buscar un trabajo para costear sus gastos (en caso de que la empresa no los cubra). De todos modos, los arreglos de condiciones y pagos quedan a criterio de las compañías y usualmente se suele discutir sobre los contratos entre el Trainee y la compañía para evitar malentendidos.
Currently, the Trainees don't have to pay for their studies (unless they withdraw out of their own conviction while being a Trainee) but they must (apart from meeting their schedules with the company) look for a job to pay for their expenses (in case that the company doesn't cover them). In any case, the conditions and payment arrangements are at the discretion of the companies, and the contracts are usually discussed between the Trainee and the company to avoid misunderstandings.
Dependiendo de lo que decida la compañía o lo que quiera el Trainee (dependerá de la compañía) puedes ser solista o pertenecer a un grupo (cosa que se decide poco después de entrar a la compañía). En caso de pertenecer a un grupo, entonces vas a convivir, practicar y posiblemente vivir con ellos, con el fin de apoyarse mutuamente, ayudarse y desarrollar vínculos.
Depending on what the company decides or what the Trainee wants (it will depend on the company) you can be a soloist or belong to a band (which is decided shortly after entering the company). In case of belonging to a band, then you will live together, practice and possibly live with them in order to support each other, help each other and develop bonds.
El tiempo de aprendizaje y Debut dependerá de los Trainee, si el grupo o la mayoría de ellos en dos meses de entrenamiento están listos (a criterio de la empresa) el grupo va a debutar, por ejemplo: Si todos están listos, todos debutan, si todos, excepto uno o dos (depende del número de integrantes) están listos, el grupo debuta sin esos dos y seguirán en reserva como Trainee para anexarlos entonces a otro grupo y darles la oportunidad de seguir mejorando mientras esperan su debut.

Poco antes del Debut oficial, se trabajará en las canciones del grupo, la imagen, los promocionales, los MV (music videos), entrevistas en diversos canales de televisión y demás cosas, para darles publicidad y así ver la respuesta del público antes del ansiado momento. A eso se le llama «pre-debut»

La permanencia de un grupo de Kpop es responsabilidad de los fans, la compañía y por supuesto, los Idols, quienes se tienen que esforzar por ayudar con las promociones con sus redes sociales y a cumplir con el trabajo requerido, además de saber evolucionar en su género, como Super Junior por ejemplo:

Se podría decir que ser un Idol es simplemente ser un interprete de Kpop, sin embargo, es mucho más que eso. Ya sabemos que también están capacitados en muchas otras ramas del entretenimiento, siendo profesionales en ello, mientras que otros cantantes de occidente solo deben preocuparse por educar la voz y memorizar una coreografía en caso de ser cantantes de pop.
You could say that being an Idol is simply being a Kpop performer, however, it 's much more than that. We already know that they are also trained in many other parts of entertainment, being professionals in it, while other singers from the West only have to worry about educating the voice and memorizing a choreography in case they are pop singers.
Los Idols son ejemplo de trabajo duro, constancia, dedicación, esfuerzo, profesionalismo y evolución. Aquellos que son promotores de su cultura y de su país en otros, incluso siendo ya parte de la cultura y del turismo en Corea del Sur.
Idols are an example of hard work, perseverance, dedication, effort, professionalism and evolution. Those who are promoters of their culture and their country in others, even though they are already part of the culture and tourism in South Korea.
